Default Advice on reasonably priced system and audio shop in LA/OC?

I am looking to upgrade my system in my Tc and was looking for a reasonably priced place in LA/OC. I want the best sound I can get for about $800. I searched and found out about Serenity Sound and MotorFX. Are they reasonably priced or are they very high end? I am hesitant to go to Best Buy or Circuit City since there installation and advice does not seem too good.

Basically I just want good quality sound. I don't need to wake up the neighbors. I play mostly rock and female vocal stuff. Do you think $800 is too meager? Do you have any systems in mind that would fit the bill?

I really appreciate your help!

hit up autofashion in San Diego if you dont mind a bit of a drive. Best shop around...PERIOD. =) they've been building the top magazine and award winning cars since they've opened up about 2 years ago. i'm sure many people on this forum that have had past experiences with autofashion can vouch for that. ask for elroy or fred.

Hmm..well since everybody's trying to sell a shop to you. Just check us out! We've had our own cover spreads - one of which is in Super Street (which happened to feature a scion tC) last year! Sponsored by companies you might know: Audiobahn, TYC, AIT, to name a few. We've built many cars for vendors which attend SEMA/CES every year. And we're authorized dealer for many major brand names (car audio/video AND performance) - Pioneer, JVC, Kenwood, Sony, AEM, Eibach, Ground Control, iNJEN, Fujita, Seibon, AIT, VIS, and also JDM - Kenstyle, Top Secret, iNGS+1 just to name a few. And not to mention all the custom installations and work we do. That's about it!
...just trying to set some standards in custom work and performance! We'll let you judge if we're the best! Come out - you'll be pleased with our next to none customer service and top notch workmanship! (The prices aren't half as bad either!) and btw a few of us own scion's as well! So we not only work on them - we own a few!

Thank you so much for all your advice. I will let you know how things go. The frustrating thing is not really being able to preview how the system will sound before buying it. Even at Circuit City like places, the sound you hear on their demo system is different from how it will sound in my car .

At the moment I am considering a basic $250 head unit, steering wheel control unit, Infiniti reference component speakers up front with stock at the back. Installed my quote was $750 from JLS mobile Sound. I stopped by this afternoon and they seemed a class act. The salesperson Jose really listened to what I was looking for and gave considered advice.

The price seemed appropriate, I just wish there was a better way of knowing how it will sound before I buy and have it all installed!

Thanks for stopping by Mark. Sorry that I, Lee, was unable to assist you but Jose took care of you as I told him you were from t forum. I know the prices he gave you were really competitive to everybody else. When you're ready I'll be glad to make cuts wherever I can to accommadate your budget. As for the "sound" your system would give out in your vehicle. It's really hard to demo the "sound" system because each car is different and it would be really ineffective to just play it out in a sound room. So if you do decide to choose a certain system or like advice on how/what it would sound like we can give you the best information we can. Again, pricing is adjustable once you're serious and ready to get it done. Just call ahead of time next time when you come in and I can set aside time to consult the "system" you're looking for your price range.
Thanks again and hopefully we'll see you at our OFFICIAL Grand Opening!
