Body shops in San Diego/Chula Vista?
Well it happended, the xB got rearended today. I was sitting at a stoplight and the lady behind me rammed me at about 5 MPH, from the looks of it the bumper cover is screwed and the lower ground effects are scratched up. According to her what happened was that a water bottle got stuck under her brake pedal and she couldn't get her bigass Chevy Tahoe to stop in time.
So now I have to figure out a place that does decent work, her insurance company offered for me to take it to one if their "approved" bodyshops but the idea that just scares me so I told them I would rather take it to a place of my choice. Of course now one of their(insurance co) adjusters is going to come out and appraise the damage.
So any good bodyshops in the Chula Vista area? I may just take it to the dealer but they will just farm it out to some other shop. I just moved to this area so I really haven't got a clue as to where any good shops are.
Thanks guys! this really sucks...I haven't even hit 2000 miles yet

Thanks for the info, Candy's is only a few miles away from me so I'll run the xB over there tomorrow for an estimate.
I did take it to the dealer for the hell of it and got an estimate, $698 if they don't have to replace the bumper support/foam. That includes a new bumper cover w/paint and repainting the lower ground effects. As I expected they farm it out but the crazy thing is that it's done by a place over 40 miles away. Prestige II Auto Reconditioning all the way up in Ramona. Not too sure about that....

I took it to Marquez, as it turns out I know one of the ladies that works there, damn it's a small world. I couldn't find Candy's, all I found was some place called C&V. I was in a bit of a hurry so I just went to Marquez. Marquez wants $965 and that's with repairing the bumper, the dealer wants $698 and that's with replacing the bumper. Most likely I'll have the dealer do it. The place the insurance company made me go to get their estimate is no more than a glorified Earl Shiebs, no god damn way will I have them touch it. FYI the name if the place is Caliber Collision Center and they were investigated for fraud last year and have a great reputation for doing sh*t work, the price for them was $446 to fill in all the dents, cracks, and a nice hole with glorified "poly-bondo" and spot paint it(half the bumper is screwed up that's a hell of a spot paint).
Now I'm waiting on the girl who hit me to make her statement to the insurance company so we can get the ball rolling, as it turns out she has no drivers license and the truck belonged to her boyfriends dad. What a f*cking nightmare. She's in the Navy too so I'm sure they won't give her any time off to take care of it since it's a "personal matter", I'm also in the Navy and I have to threaten people half the time to get time off to take care of business.
Sorry just ____ed and venting
I'm really sick of rolling around in a screwed up car

Go to the Toyota dealership off of Mission Gorge Rd Toyota of San Diego. They are the only Toyota dealership in San Diego that has a collision repair center on site. Some idiot backed up into my rear driver side door and I had it repaired there nice and easy with warranty. They replaced the entire door.
You want a full replacement nothing fix if possible.

I just went to the Toyota dealer on Mission Gorge and I'm pretty much sold on taking it to them. Thanks for the info westsype! I talked to Francisco and as soon as he saw my xB he said "I just did a job on one of those where we replaced the door" I knew he had to have been talking about you.
Anyway he flat out refused to repair the bumper cover and would only replace it and then proved to me why it couldn't just be fixed with filler, the top side of the bumper cover is "bowed" out from the impact and there is now way filler can fix that. That's great news since I didn't want to have to play games with the insurance company to have it replaced instead of just fixed. The damn cover is only $139! I don't know why these other shops want to fix the damn thing when buying a new one is about the same price as fixing it. They want $664 to fix everything and it'll take 3 days, that's a damn good price but honestly price doesn't matter to me since I'm not paying anyway. I'll be sure to hit them up again if ever need be after this. All I'm waiting on now is for the girl who hit me to get around to making her statement
Thanks again for the info guys
