I have two detectors, a Vector 995 (now in the girlfriend's car) and a valentine1.
Lidar protection involves either a laser or LED based jammer that activates (depending on brand) for a 5-10 seconds and then shuts off to allow for a reading. Lidar jammers do not apply to the same laws as radar jammers and usually carry a much smaller non-moving violation penalty.
I highly recommend the LPP brand as it masks itself as a functional parking sensor.

LPP brand you said?
i've been wanting to get one..
Police around San Diego have been much more strict with everything here. Pulling over people for stupid stuff.
Where would I look into this LPP thing :]

Your logic is really confusing. If you were against radar AND laser protection, you would have a valid argument, but you just contradict yourself for being for one product and against the other. They both serve the EXACT same purpose...
I do like to contradict myself.
As far as I know, if you're caught with the laser protection (messing with the laser gun), its a much bigger fine. However, if you're caught with a radar detector cops really don't care all that much. Some will, some won't. Messing with their equipment on purpose is a big no-no. Being able to know where and how far a cop is from you, isn't a big no-no.
Unless the laser protection is something different, then I'm pretty sure I'm on the right track.

Last year, one of my good friend's (the one who introduced me to lidar jamming) was busted and was served a $100 fine. IMO, I can deal with that! But he, like an idiot did a JTG (jam to gun). By continually jamming and not allowing the officer to read your speed, it is a dead give away. LIDAR jammers should not be used to JTG, but simply to allow time to react and slow down.
But all of this is pointless and moot. The purpose of both devices is to avoid being caught for speeding. Ethically, the means should not near any difference. IE, whether you use a knife (legal to own) or an illegally possessed gun to murder someone should be a moot point.

Clearly why Radar Detectors are illegal in some states.... From the best of my knowledge there are no 5 miles over the speed limit tickets for the highway. From my experience you can safely drive 10mph and under without worrying too much about getting stopped. Situations vary.
Be careful always when driving if you can. No one is perfect, NO ONE
Also I think some cops will take things you say and think, oh a wise guy
lets see what else we can find to shut this guy up....
So I would say be respectful and if you can do that + not reveal anything? nice!
