Living in California?
Hey all. Here's the deal. I'm from Upstate NY, and have never even visited the west coast. I was just hired by Toyota Corp. to work in Torrance, CA for a summer internship. I've heard all the horror stories such as, people in CA aren't friendly, traffic is bad, etc. What I'm interested in, what is it like to live in CA? Being from the East coast, am I in for a big surprise? Anything I should look out for? Basically, what can I expect out of this new experience? Thanks in advance!
hey if you're coming from new york .. i don thtink youll have any problems living in LA.. except the girls are hotter.. beaches are nicer, but ya traffic kinda sux. but oh well just something to deal with. but hey when its 95* in NY and 100% humidity.. ya i wouldnt wanna be there id rather be here on the other coast .. you'll like it!

Posted at the same time, I can retract my previous question. Overall I'm just really excited. I've never even flown in a plane before so everything will be a new experience for me.
The job is a market research position to test the profitability of placing dealerships in new areas. I'd eventually like to get into marketing for Scion. I'd love to hear some more replies. Thanks again to both of you for fast responses!

but your from NY this is like it, but with a b.s. attitude and ego like no other
i think INFINI is from NY ask him he'll tell ya
cheers!
hey, well welcome to CA....welcome to a place where everything costs much more, and people are a little too concerned with their looks...haha, j/k.....well people are friendly here, and people can be mean, just like any place. hopefully you like the beach! anyway, you have us scion people here in so cal, and a few of us hangout, etc....so drop by when you get out here, and we'll make you feel at home!
Cool! My only warning is you will be staying near the Home Depot Center, and it can become a mad house around the X-Games the first week of Aug, when David Beckham makes his home debut in July, and if the Mexican national soccer team comes to town.
No offense--but the most surley obnoxious people I have ever met are from New York. Maybe they are from New York City and not upstate--I will grant you that. It is pretty laid back here is what I am told. Traffic is bad, but there are lots of freeways to get around problems. I think you will enjoy your stay. There are Scion functions just about every weekend in the summer---good luck and hope to see you at one...........
welcome to so_cal :]
CSDH is really close to toyota. i used to work down in torrance and know the place really well.
only bad thing about torrance is that because there are a lot of big corporartions theres a lot of traffic on the surface streets.
its not too bad though..youll get used to it.
hope you have fun :]
