Default OH NO...THEY GOT ME! THREAD

So last night im on my way to meet with a friend from AS and i was at the light look rear view mirror and see a car behind me right... so the light turn green and i go about 5 to 10 miles per hr cuz i dont drive that fast on the streets... as soon as i pass the street light i look back and is not a car anymore is a PIG in a bike and with his light on me!
so he pulls me over...walks towards the left side of the car with his hand on the gun... i pull down my windows cuz im almost limo tint... and he's like
"do you know why i pull u over"
and if you have seen my car i dont look nothing like a race car...
i was like "honestly no "
he said "because of your exhaust" "it's modified"
i was like "WTF...ur seriouse? is a T-R-D exhaust ....came with the car..."
the officer goes "son do you know what T-R-D stands for?"
im like looking at him and saying " R U SERIOUSE" "TOYOTA RACING DEVELOPMENT....T-O-Y-O-T-A is a stock part for scions"
so anyways... this guy makes me pop my hood!
then he's like " ok so your telling me that this TRD stuck bar is stock too?"

im laughing at the cop ok.... he's keeps talking for like 15min. about the history of TRD...that it comes from HKS and re sticker to TRD that sell to scion so that makes it a aftermarket part.

then he's like your header are part of the exhaust system....DUHHHH!

HE GOT SOMETHING RIGHT! LOL! so he cited me for
"MODIFIED EXHAUST "

SO MY QUESTION IS:
IF I TAKE IT TO INSPECTION WOULD THEY MAKE ME POP MY HOOD IF THE TICKET IS ABOUT MY EXHAUST?
AND IS TRD REALLY CONSIDERED AFTERMARKET OR I CAN FIGHT THAT IN COURT?

I think your safe... I would stop by the dealership or find your invoice and bring that with you. If it was installed at the time of purchase then you have nothing to fear.

haha thats funny, that cops a dick.
If everything is TRD, and you got it from toyota it should be fine. The Trd stuff from the dealership is all 50 state legal. And i agree just bring an invoice from the dealership with you.

If its TRD, take the paper work that should have come with the car and show them that it is a factory option.
You can also take one of the Scion books that we all have and you can show them all of the options that Scion gives us.

here is where you draw the line. TRD is an aftermarket company. Not all Toyota's come with trd exhaust right?

wait are you being sarcastic? because by looking at your profile pics your car does look like a race car lol. I also think you are ok since any one can puy those parts at a dealer. I think on the trd web site it states all trd parts are 50 state legal except the trd intake for off road purpose only. thank god i moved out of L.A.

i just looked at ur profile, and u didnt mention that u have headers and an intake. If he wrote you up for a modified exhaust system and ur megan race headers were on it, they got you. Do they allow you to take stuff off and call it a fix it ticket around here? Im in San Diego btw

We have TRD fleece blankets in our boutique.

I can just imagine...

"Ma'am, is that an aftermarket blanket on your back seat? I'm going to have to cite you for modified warmth and snuggling."

Well I have to go with Kirby here. I mean they say in the state of CA anything that did not come with the car can be sighted as illegal. Scares the crapolla out of me when I see a cop Cause no matter how much I bit@h and moan he has more power to ticket me for my mods than I have to fight it in California.

Lucky for the xA our header is hidden Funny thing is also that TRD has been known to buy stuff from other aftermarket companies and brand there name on it I hear. So I think I could say "my Tanabe Exhaust is TRD see!". Think they are gonna listen?

Thing I feel worse about is the experience you had though. I hate the word PIG but some cops just really earn the name by being unnecessarily aggressive and abusive. Personally I get REALLY polite just to avoid that from happening.

Ok I have to laugh and add here. Hubby, who drives an 08 XD gets stopped weekly for (yep you guested it) illegal exhaust. His XD came off the showroom floor with TRD exhaust. Every time hubby gets out and says TRD exhaust it came with the car TRD stands for Toyota Reginal Developement. Cops say ummm You can go and Have a nice day. He always wants to put a foot up their *** say he would have a nice day then. LOL

ya kirby's right on this one or his pops is right. once you told the copper that it was a trd, he probably knew that he couldnt give u a ticket 4 that, thats probably why he made u pop ur hood cuz he probably wanted to see if you had ur engine modified so he could ticket u.

if you have anything from headers all the way down to the exhaust tip modified than he got u.

did he write correctable or non correctable on the ticket for the modified exhaust? if he wrote that it's correctable then you are in luck because the state refs are now opened again and if you have to take it to get your exhaust db checked then put your stock intake air box and stock headers and go get it checked off. take the ticket to court and pay the $25 fee for it. now if they wrote non correctable then the ticket will be like $123 because mine came out to that BUT the lady at the window told me that i could still fix it so i took it to the state ref and passed, went back to court and they made me wait from like july to nov just to see a judge so he could ask me "did you correct it" "yes and i have the state ref certificate to prove it" showed it to him "ok your free to go and all charges are dropped" so i waited months just to save myself $123 and within that time i got pulled over a few times and got my hood popped but after they saw my clean record and the state ref exhaust ticket they would just let me go because i wasn't speeding at the moment....damn i can't believe i typed a long post LOL.
