Singing Road in Lancaster
Most of you probably heard about this on the local news in the last few days, but in case you didn't, this is a quick heads-up.
Honda recently created America's only "singing road", located in Lancaster on Avenue K between 60th and 70th West. Because of all the complaints from local residents, they will be removing the singing road in a week or two. Since it's the only one of its kind in the country, it might be worth heading out that way if you are in the area. It's kinda cool...

Yeah I know they've had those in Japan for many years, and there's a famous one in Korea. This is the first and only singing road in the US though. I dunno if it's worth driving 80/90 miles, but if you are in the area any time soon then check it out.
I'm in the Antelope Valley often, and I can tell you this road has been getting a LOT of attention in recent days (considering the road basically doesn't go anywhere). Just watch out for the idiots who keep busting U-turns so they can ride over it again and again.

I've been down that road to listen to the tune like 5 times now and it's awesome and good idea to do. I hit it going 80 in my grandmothers minivan because I couldn't get it going 55mph or 60mph, but it's like 10 seconds long. it's pretty cool!

most people think it 's pretty cool to drive that road because of the tune it plays, but in fact if you drive down that road count how many wooden crosses are on the right side of that highway. i lost a very good friend who was like a brother to me on the that very same stretch of highway two years ago to a driver not paying attention half asleep driving down the road. im not sure if it there to keep people awake or just for fun,but if this could save a life they should save it not take it away

Nyte_ryder and I went through it the other day with Tim and Eden from Scikotics. We were laughing our ___ off.
The faster you go the better you hear the song and can make it out.
If you can't figure our what it is let me know and I'll help you out.

Yeah that's one of the bad things about it - it sounds best at like 70 or 80mph, but the road has a 55 limit.
A lot of those desert roads are extremely dangerous because of the high speed limit and the lack of a divider. Add in some potholes and blind dips, and you have a recipe for disaster. In other countries, these singing roads are used as a mechanism to keep tired drivers awake and alert in areas where they are likely to drift off.

I dont blame the residence. People start driving crazy. I was waiting on the side of the road about 1/4 mile away from it at 2am and all you can hear is the humming of the road and motors. Thats it. Almost saw an accident happen because someone busted a U-ey around a blind corner. The place is pretty crazy. The faster you go the louder it is...its pretty rediculious. They should have a CHP just sit there and it would be a hell of a lot safer, maybe not as fun, but the might not get rid of it in that case.

So I went out to the singing road today and there was quite a buzz about the place. Traffic was extremely heavy, and there were even stopages and lines prior to the singing road section. Heavy traffic only allowed me to travel over the road at 30mph, which made it sound lame. There was a big group of people standing there with signs saying something to the effect of "save the road". Apparently it has been scheduled for removal this Tuesday, and people want you to call the mayor of Lancaster to plead for the road's survival.
