please dont get butt hurt if i say this...
heres my definition of rice on automobiles: trying way too hard to turn an economic car into a race car by adding many stuff that doesnt have any performance potential.
tonight, im going to talk about spoiler. IMO, adding a huge spoiler on most cars does nothing since no one here (especially in SoCal) go over 120mph on the freeway. the reason for adding a spoiler is to hold the car down when traveling high speed (to get more stabilized, especially on RWD cars). so if its a FWD car with a spoiler, its pretty much does nothing since the spoiler would just push the rear end of the car down, making the front of the car higher at a high rated speed, which cause the front of the car to lift up (reduces aerodynamics).
there are many different types that are functional and just for show. examples:
functional (maybe):
just for show:
i cant believe that i wasted my time just to type that whole non-sense. LOL!
stay tuned for my take on other rice stuff...

Well its kinna hard to define. Pretty much, I guess it will be trying to add as many things to your car to "enhance" the look of it. Purchasing parts from autozone, pep boys, ect. Painting things that dont really match with the car

Rice= cultivating a look for your automobile that, sometimes, other people don't care for.
This reminds me of how my Philosophy of Religion professor described a "cult." A "cult" is any religious belief structure that you don't subscribe to. So to me, being agnostic, Christianity is a cult, Judaism is a cult, Hinduism..cult...etc.
"Rice" is the same way. Just about anything any one of us has done to our cars is probably considered rice in some automotive circle.

As I've stated before Honda owners carried the import scene on their backs in the mid to late 90's to take over the existing import scene that Toyota, Mazda, & Nissan/Datsun made. Even that was really underground then.
