Default Thinking of moving.

So, this is all sorts of awkward.

I don't own a scion anymore (owned a tC and RS1 xD) but I figured car forums would be the best place to start poking around.

I live in Clearwater Florida right now and my gf and I are thinking of running away to Vegas, no real reason or plan just a change of scenery.

My questions are:
What is the job situation like for everyone, any places hiring?
What is the public transportation system like (it doesn't exist here)? Can one survive on a bus pass?
What does a movie ticket cost?
What are gas prices?
Do you have omission testing?
Does your car need to be inspected?
Are car laws as stupid as Cali?

Any other input about living within 5miles of the strip would be awesome. Thanks guys!

What is the job situation like for everyone, any places hiring? like the rest of the country, its not the easiest of times, but if you are persisstent i dont see why you cant get a decent job.

What is the public transportation system like (it doesn't exist here)? Can one survive on a bus pass? i personally think a car would be best. they have taxis but thats not cost effective whatsoever.
What does a movie ticket cost? about the same as LA. $10.
What are gas prices? vegas is cheaper than LA thats for sure. LA its low to mid 4's now
Do you have omission testing? if you mean emission yes LV does, but its not as strict as LA
Does your car need to be inspected? i believe you do anytime you change over reg state to state with a different set of smog laws.
Are car laws as stupid as Cali? nope much more lenient

Any other input about living within 5miles of the strip would be awesome. Thanks guys!

the most desireable areas would be henderson area, and green valley. summerlins very nice, but strict as hell HOA's (home owners associations).

if you live on the west side of henderson, you can literally drive local (no fwy) and get to the backside of the luxor in about 5-8 minutes. thats pretty quick imho.

if you are planning on buying a home, this is a good as a time as any in the las vegas real estate market, as homes are dirt cheap out there right now. I'm looking at some investment properties at the moment. where else can you buy a 05 built home with 2700 sq feet and a 6k sq ft lot for 180k thats not in the hood?

Thanks for the feedback, I've only lived in Florida and Arkansas, neither have smog laws so I've never had to worry about the legality of my car on a annual basis.

As far as emissions is concerned just aftermarket intake.

But, you can't roll a tennis ball under my car, all my exterior lights are painted and i 5% tint all around with 50% over the entire windshield. <-- all is illegal here in Fl but cops don't harass you about it. They will happily add it on the ticket if the pull you for speeding or something legit.
