Default What I learned with Motor Vehicle laws 2day.

I wanted to know if yellow bulbs are legal to use in California. Well, I searched far and wide on SL and didn't find an answer, so I went online to DMV's vehicle codes. Wow, I should've stopped here first.

While looking around, I found out that its legal/ok/fine to have white or yellow bulbs for use on the roads. (From what I understand) Now, whether its DOT/SAE approved, I don't give a ****. I going to buy some Luminics sometime this month, yellow of course. I also follow out that fogs can be also the same, white or yellow. COOL.

Then, seeing that I drive with my ambers/parking lights, found out that its illegal to drive with them on..............I didn't know that. I put them on cuz I think other drivers will be more aware of me. Now, I won't be sporting them anymore.

Here is the link, http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/vctop/vc/vctoc.htm

Neon is also legal only if its completely under the car, can't be visible.

and it cant be red or amber neons..

Also.. you can drive with neon lights..

25400 cvc.: This code is where NEON lighting under your vehicle is LEGAL to drive with. Please keep in mind that you can not have the color red and your tubes must be hidden. You may only have the glow effect. We install every neon kit to conform to this code.

Blue and yellow headlights. Headlights must be white - blue and yellow are illegal (24011 VC). Look for the DOT symbol on the bulb and package.
See: http://www.chp.ca.gov/html/streetlegal.html (again).

if u manage to convice the cop that it isnt illegal, trust me he.she will get you for something else.

yellow is nice to look at but FYI yellow has less light output than your stock bulbs.

dont give the police a reason to pull you over.

I don't know what VC to listen to. Yellow is illegal................yellow can be used???????Which one? It makes it harder for me/us on what is legal or not.

I thought yellow was bright. I guess I'm wrong then. I know that the higher the K value on HIDs, its less brighter. But yellow, ????????

I guess yellow is only good for fogs, I guess.

I mean, on one part, u can use yellow. Then with that "street legal part," yellow can't be used.

Plus, I'm lowered, but its no where near the lowest part of the rim. They might site me for modification, but the lowering thing, I'm safe.

Thanks to ALL THE F&F fans/posuers/ricers for making it harder for us, everyone, and the industry. Damn street racers.

OK, rather than going through this whole thing for the fourth or fifth time, may I suggest that one go to the following topic?

===> https://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=137295 <===

That topic starts out asking about 'green turn signals' but by about post 15 includes yellow headlights.

By the time you get to the last post, every law that affects yellow headlights in California has been not only quoted, but analyzed, and all objections quashed.

It's a little bit long, (53 posts) but it covers the subject in very good detail, and is worth the read.

Read it slowly - it gets a little complex and exacting in places, but the questions asked here are answered there.

Hey, thanks. I guess I'll just stick with bb fogs w/yellow bulbs. I just saw my uncles Subie and it looks nice. He has yellow fogs and stock headlights. So, I guess I'll copy him,
