Default Yellow Headlight Owners; Beware!

My ticket is $161 dollars.

I just found that out right now while going through my mail.

1... 6... 1...

Yep, I'm fighting this in court.

If you had yellow headlights at the time of the stop, don't waste your time or the court's time and pay the fine. You're fighting a losing battle on this one. Yellow headlights are not DOT legal.

So Cal got smart a long time ago... They find more and more excuses to NOT give "fix-it-tickets" and instead hand out hefty fines for what they consider intentional vehicle code violations...

Don't mod in So Cal and think you can get away with the 10 dollar correction ticket. They got hip to that.

Hit the nail on the head with that one. You should have checked with the laws of your state BEFORE applying the yellow tint to your headlights, if you were worried about getting a ticket.

Well he should still go to court, and it will at least be reduced. I would just say that since vehicles have yellowish halogen running lights and headlights, it would seem plausable that you could have a yellow headlight protection film.

Yellow foglights (through some sort of yellow lens filter) are legal. Colored bulbs are not legal. Yellow film is a tricky one. . . on foglights that is. It's almost debateable. But don't quote me on that last one.

Tint- 35% cost me $114 here too.
BS because 1/2 of the dang cars here have 5% all-round.
But, in the end, I did break the law so I didn't fight it.
Pay the tic and learn.

I was pulled over sometine in november last year for the same thing, yellow headlights, and a warning for tint (just had the tint installed that day so the cop cut me some slack). I changed out the bulbs and went to the police department to have them sign off. The cop who signed off said I still had to go to court and show them I fixed it. He also mentioned it would cost me around $110 not the usual $10. Damn. When I went to court and showed the judge the signed off ticket, he said it was only $10 and that the cop was "old and crazy" (his words not mine - but I concur). I went to court that day expecting to pay $110 and only payed $10 so it's like I "won" $100.

Same thing happened to me. When I got pulled over it was because of the yellow bulbs. Then I got hit for no front licence plate and no registration. I got a fix it ticket for all of them. I got them all signed off and i had to pay a fine for $170.
