I was driving my friend's Lexus SC300 with dual N1 exhaust today on HWY287 in lafayette. There was a cop sitting at the light waiting to go straight as I went into the left turn lane. Since the cop was there I short-shifted like hell to make the least noise possible. I drove well within all legal limits to not draw attention to myself. He followed me and pulled me over saying "any exhaust louder than stock is illegal". I didn't get a warning or ticket because it wasn't my car...

However, I'm worried about getting a ticket with my car (HKS exhaust), has anyone else been pulled over for exhaust, or is this just a rare occasion in CO?? (I've never heard of anyone pulled over for exhaust before this)....

 

I have never been pulled over and wouldn't think dealerships would place an exhaust on a car if it was illegal. I think he was probably just giving you a hard time.

 

ask syldrin his exhaust is the loudest one i have ever heard sounds like a honda but more ____ed off and ____ty sounding i have a pretty loud exhaust to and i have never got bothered for it so i think he just wanted to check you out lol

My friend in Washington, has a civic running a open header (loud as the dickens) just got a ticket for having a loud exhaust. As much as I love that kid, he had it comin'

 

if you are in an area with a noise ordanence then yes you will get pulled over for a loud exhaust, and a loud stereo can get you a ticket too

 

i don't get harassed by by littleton cops with my exhaust and they are the strictest in the state.

 

I don't know about littleton being the worst. Boulder was pretty bad in the day. No front license plate, parked wrong way on side street, no front license plate, parked too close to intersection, no front license plate, expired temp tag, expired temp tag, expired temp tag (all within a week, and not my fault...Bellco's fault), no using right turn signal (about half a mile before the exit in a right-turn only lane). Stupid poo like that.
