change of mind!
well as many of you know I'm not a big show car and wanted the tc to be a great performance stunner! well as I've had the car for over a year now and haven't accoplished much anything due to my financial situation I'm giving up my dream for mutiple reasons.
1. everyone I know with a boosted car or all out performance has countless amounts of cash dumped into their vehicle and when trying to sell it they only get about half of it back.
2. race cars are very unreliable and can cost fortunes to maintian.
3. no matter how much its never enough power and you will never be happy and someone will always be faster.
4. I pay a fortune just to own the car and very happy with just looking at it.
5. at 22 years old with a collage degree its time for me to start looking at my own place, I don't want to mooch off my parents anymore.
So my plans are to continue with mild performance upgrades (porbably a used trd supercharger and lsd, they can be found for a great price if patiant and will provide plenty of fun without effecting warranty) and a littie more visual just to seperate my self while still having a nice fun reliable daily driver.
what I'm saying is two things, I'm selling the turbo that I bought from a friend for 300 bucks to the scion community, its a great turbo and will make great numbers if thats what you want. its a turbonetics t3/t04e ceramic ball bearing hybrid turbo. will support up to 400 whp.
also for those of you that have the beast and know it's deffining wrath thats all about to change with a high flow cat. this will make it nice and deep tone with no rasp and about half the noise level.
so if you are interested an anything or know someone who is please let me know.

all very good points the man. I think you are coming to the realization that while we all love our rides and want to personalize them. its not the only thing that is important. so thats good to hear from someone your age. With any car you buy and think about modifying it. you have to ask yourself one simple question. What and Why are you building it. and what will it mainly be used for. If you're into building a full out race car and have other means for a daily driver.. then go for it. If the car is going to be a daily driver, but you want to modify it to give it that little something extra that will make you smile as you go down the street... then things like superchargers, turbos, lowering kits... should NOT even be in ones vocabulary. When building a performance minded daily driver, there is a good middle ground to upgrade your car to.. so dont dispair. there is nothing wrong with a ride like that.
Mouse has a good point...middle ground. What I try to do with my cars is personalize them and make them fun to drive but not outrageous (not that a turbo kit makes it outrageous). But I personally love autox and track days, so pretty much all my cars get full suspension, belts, a few performance things like intake, and really sticky tires, then I go beat the crap out of it on the weekends
. I like to look good but have never really seen the point in building something stricly for show. But I don't need 300hp to have fun driving either. My last car was a Focus zx3 and it was the best handling car I have ever owned, I outhandled my parents Boxster S everyweekend (autox'd both of them).
Build it for fun!

i got my acura for a daily driver while i work on the xb (well actually i got a subaru but someone wrecked that) and while i want it to be the fastest car ever, the minor performance mods i bought it with are excellent for those "yea i want to smoke this guy when the light goes green" and the "yea i should probly be pulled over for doing 120 in rush hour but who cares" moments.
theres always a financial limit unless youre spoon fed for life, but honestly when you save up for a month or 2 or 12 and buy that one part... its always worth it.
oh and yea replacing stuff constantly is expensive... already need a new cat and down pipe

I love this car and don't care if it's straight line fast. I'm a corner carver not a 1/4 mile guy. even there both fun to do.
I don't care about being the fastest or beating the guy next to me I just want to enjoy the car and have a good time. If I wanted to build a drag car I would of built a good ol' V8 with a solid axle under the rear.
turbodreams: its just the turbo I don't think any one is crazy enough to sell a kit for 300 bones. and if I had the kit I wouldn't have made this post.
and before I bought the scion I really wanted a type r but couldn't find one that was worth the money or in good enough shape. know I see them all over the place and think about trading in the scion but I still owe more than it's worth.
