Default How to build sub & amp displays

Anyone know where I can go and learn how to build my own Display for the back of my xB? Are there books, maybe? Someone local with the know how to make some really nice ones. I want to learn. TEACH ME. I CAN BE TAUGHT.

Build a frame for your box out of MDF, cover it in fleece, then coat it in resin and fiberglass over it. Its not difficult, just time consuming.

I have time, All Kinds of time... What I don't have is cash to waste on a bunch of trail and error figure it out for myself kinda stuff. I have never done Fiberglass (I have done fiber optic is that close?). I'm not sure what Fleece we are talking about here. It sounds like I need to know a lot more then I do now. (sigh)

so...I guess it's not just me huh?

After the stevinson show, I had this real itch to spend buckets of cash I don’t have on things I never had ‘on the list’

If you want to build a box, I think we could put our collective heads together and figure it out. There is also one box on ebay that has a scion logo, sub and amp for a couple hundy. The guy is here in town, and gave me the address to his shop. I was gonna go down there and see how well it's made and whether or not he'd sell it without the kmart sub & amp.

Here’s the link

Fiberglass isnt difficult to work with. If you dont want to attack the sub box project for your first time, maybe try something smaller like kick panels to build up your confidence.

A fellow SL'er sent me a link to a site that has some great Info. I just wish I had someone with a little hands on to walk me through it.

That's right! I'm stepping it up.

i decent box with fiberglass should not cost you more then 75.00.....
the wood wont cost more then 20.00 at home depot, and the resin and other materials would make up the rest of the cost, but you want the CU. to be correct so you can go on sites like JL i think they give out that information, if not most good stereo shops may have a set of speaker install instructions available.
all you need is some time and patience, its not hard......
fiberglass is almost as easy to work with as that cheap speaker carpet that used to be used, i just did a box covered in suede.....so you can cover it in anything.
