How do our boxes handle in the snow?
Hey guys i have a Xb, that i just bought in april. I was just wondering how do they do in the snow? I have 16 inch rims, and was wondering if i should buy a set of stealies, with snow tires for the winter? or do you think my 16 enkie's will be ok? i dont want to spend a whole alot on a whole nother set of rims. Any of you take your boxes up boarding to say copper? I havent had a car, that i would even be able to make it up half of the mountain till now. Im just not to not be prepared for winter... last winter my 89 corolla barely made it out alive. Thanks for putting up with my noobyness... peace
I never really had problems with my box until the storm we had where the snow was so deep my car kept getting high-centered. So, as long as the snowfall doesn't exceed the distance between the bottom of your car and the ground, you'll be fine!
Mine is dropped an inch and no problems in Detroit.
You said that you have 16 inch wheels. I don't think that will make a differance size wise. I would think the total height of the tire and wheel should be about the same as stock. The type of tire and the width will make a differance.
Mine has been stock tires. I am picking up a new set of 16 inch tires and wheels. My Konig Theory rims will be going on ebay soon. a few winters shows in these rims. Not real bad and I think they are good looking for a set of winter rims. I would do that myself but I don't have the room to store an extra set of tires and wheels.

The car works great in the snow. I ended up putting 15's with snow tires on last winter. I was living on the north side of town and worked on the south side. If you don't feel comfortable in the snow studed tires work great on the box. I was also running 18's and had no real problems.

Sweet, thanks for all the input. Im definately to finally have a car good enough to make it through winter. My last 2 cars didnt have back winter defrosters-that was a joy merging onto the highway, plus the lack of a good heater. haha colorado winters are crazy yo
