Just an odd question for everyone. I come from an area where 87 is the minimum octane, but here in Denver it is 85. What does everyone get?

87,89,91 if you want higher go to the local airport lol

So then what is the reason colorado has lower octane? Is it the less amount of air, which means it takes less fuel to burn? Most states the minimum is 87...

I just thought it was interesting and the only thing I could think of was the air is thinner here so your car must need less fuel to burn with that air? ( I am no engineer though)

 

If you run avgas in your Scion, it will run like crap !!! LOL

 

That is the reason. air is thinner here, and we dont need such a high octane

here in cali its 87 for min, max is 91, unless you go to San Jose where you can actually get 100octane! only about five bucks a gallon! haha I was in canada last week and the offer 94 octane for like 1.04 a litre, with my turbo, things were running great!

 

ya it's because of the altitude i run 87 or what ever mid grade is here.

 

and yes I have longhorns on my hood, and a shotgun in the seat and we also have no electricity, and we drive on dirt roads. We use phrases like "you fix'n to get off at the store?"

 

87 in the xb.. gotta run 93 in the rx8.. hard to find.. sucks

What is a pw tc? Is that like a "poor whiteguy" tc? A "previously wrecked" tc? A "pickle worshiper's" tc?

avgas has lead in it, you don't want your injectors messed up do you? from the sound of it, dz302 has experience running avgas in cars
