1UP CREW DISCUSSION / SCION MEET
Ok I have a PC thats screwed up im trying to install AVG, but it wont work without a windows service pack. The problem with that is the PC is not mine and the owner of it doesnt know where the code is to get the pack lol. Is there any other way I might be able to get it??
The service pack is a free download. It does verify that you have a legitimate version of windows though. If you don't have it, it won't download. If you do then its not a problem ^^
This is the latest XP service pack.

You could also go to google and search for
Stinger
Its made my mcafee and will clear the most common viruses/trojans.
Here is the link.

Also try, I think its called panda antivirus.
It has a free online scan tool.

Wow that sucks.
Well your sort of screwed. Maybe Geo knows something.
But as far as I know. Even if you did have the whole Service Pack executable on your drive. When it comes time to install, it will still try to verify the Windows XP Cd Key (on the hard drive) that is safely embedded in the registry in hex code probably, where no one can find it.
Oh, and thats why I sent you the other Antivirus thingies ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
as a work around to clean the computer.
yea well ok now the story is, the product key was found but when entered it says its invalid.
Would it make a difference if the harddrive was changed..
I dunno this is gettin confusing for me

well, try www.avast.com i dont think they need any kind of Sp on the computer. what version of windows is it running, pro or home?
joe, the belt is probably just an adjustment issue, or could be a bearing... but most likely adjustment. The rear brakes, you mentioned its drums? when exactly does it make the sound. When they are applied but cold? when the cars moving without the brakes applied?

If you had a different hard drive entirely with a fresh install of Windows XP on it, it would still try and verify that the CD key is valid, by going online, or by having you call microsoft.
So you either need
A.) a valid CD key for windows.
or
B.) A corporate edition of Windows XP that doesn't use a CD Key.
or
c.) a Brand new Windows OS (with the new cd key).
But if you just need to clean it, just use other AV softwares out there, like the one geo and I named.

But I believe the Service Pack is identical for Windows XP Pro/Home.
