Awesome! I'll probably be there. Know any drive through car washes or do it yourself car washes down there? My car will be filthy by the time I get there

Default finding a car wash

I know what you mean....I get a few bugs on mine when I go to Jacksonville.
I smart-phoned every carwash in the place. In JAX there are NO self serve washes, unless you know of one.... LOL
and buddy, if there is a secret one, hit me with the address!

For Lakeland, hit the internet for self serve washes. You might also look
for a terrorist convenience store...... LOL the guy behind the counter is sometimes receptive to $5 into his coffee fund for me to hook up
my hose and do a rinse off. If you bring some friends, he could make a few
dollars off the books that day.

Look for a hose connection outside first. Then I buy a soda, and when leaned against the counter bs'ing, I ask if he's interested in some free
cash...... -Bob

If this starts at 10, should we get there a little early for showing? Or is 10 fine

Default General principles of arriving at meets and shows

Everyone has their own opinion.....
As a general principle, people who want their cars to look the best will always arrive early, get the best parking spot, do the last minute little detail things, wipe things off, Armoral the tires, etc. and set up for display.

People who want to get a good parking space will always arrive early.

People who just want to hang out, wait to be sure that people
will be there. They arrive two hours late, park too far away, leave
their hood closed and cluster around their buddies...... LOL
,,,,this is based on what I see at a lot of meets that I go to.....LOL
-------------------------------------------------
An example is Simply Clean, (to be held in Ormond Beach on Nov 10 2012)
At SC2/2010, it started at 10AM. I was there at 9AM........and the line was
four blocks long, wrapping around the restaurant.

For SC3 in 2011, I arrived at 8AM and all the pavement parking was taken. I parked in a grass field with 450 cars! By the time I had looked at 800 cars, I had worked around to the entrance and a guy was just walking in the entrance saying: "I parked a mile away..." I looked down the road........and he WAS a mile away!
There were 3,000 people there that day and 1,000 cars.

So for this year: SC4......I'm going to be early.
---------------------------------------------------
Straight up.....probably that church won't get 1,000 cars. But just
in case......arriving early is always a good idea......if you are asking me....

Living right down the road from this.. I plan on being there. There is a car wash on Bartow highway which is not too far from here. However, do not go through the autowash because it always steals your money. This show is usually a good size so you might consider showing up a bit early. Its pretty classic car heavy, but I'll be happy to see another Scion hanging around.

There were 443 cars there. No spectator admission, No entry fee, and when you signed in, you got a free soda and a BBQ dinner. You could see the movie "Cars" in the big air-conditioned auditorium. I had some of the BBQ pork with slaw and baked beans and it was good. Outside, music was supplied by WJBJ.

Some of the clubs I saw represented were Simply Clean, Import Image Racing, Low Altitude, and Unique. Some Scions were on the South side of that huge parking lot, mostly clean TC's. There were MGB's, MGTC, Bugeye Sprite, VW's, Austin Healeys, early Mini Coopers, Triumph TR3, Ferrari, and one lone Honda.

I recognized some muscle car guys that I knew. Lots of cars had "Sponsor's Choice" ribbons on them and they gave out a table full of trophies.

Lots of the cars were from Lakeland. It's not widely known but the first Friday every month, there is a car show/meet around Munn Park in Downtown Lakeland. I have been there a few times. They have live bands and DJ's and bunches of live entertainment over on Kentucky Avenue. Elvis has stopped by a few times
and...
and.....
and.......On the First Friday of OCTOBER....Michael Jackson will be there to
do the "Thriller" Show. Believe it!-Bob
