Default Car Show Suggestions!

Ok, I'm trying to plan a car show sometime next month....so to be fair to everyone and so we can really get to know what everyone wants...I'd like to take some suggestions as to what everyone is either looking for or wanting as past of a car show...so type away everyone...

Please remember this will be at a dealership..I only wish i was planning a huge one...believe me...

I'm working on a budget so please be kind...hahaha....and I will try my best to hear everyone out and see what I can do....The more I hear for the same the more I will probably use that to your advantage...as i was discussing on another thread...some would like a JDM catagory....but please be advised the tc's would be omitted due to the fact that yes they are made there but not sold there....sorry...we already had a little discussion about that here.

Remember I would love to hear from everyone b/c I want those that plan to attend to enjoy themselves and be happy with the outcome of trophies and entertainment...so not only am I looking for suggestions on prizes but that also.

Breakdancing anyone? Anyone want to show off their business? Dj battle....etc....let me know...I'm up for them all but I have to make sure I can stay within budget....What day is better...Friday or Sunday?....anything else you can think of...

I Look forward to everyone's response...enjoy!

Since everybody like to be recognize & get a little something. I suggest that you make some small plaque for car pictures. Someone will take picture of each cars. Then, after taking picture of each car. Print it. Then, They can either put some tape by themselves or they can ask you/other staff to help them with the plaque. At least, they got something to take it home with them to show to their relatives, friends etc that they got recognize for participating going to car show.

i second the whole JDM class.... as far as TC's go... they should have a performace based award since they wouldn't be able to compete in the JDM catagory

i love the whole idea of the Release Series award.... but there should be one award for best xb, xa, and tc in that category

so as for categories:

- PERFORMANCE
- ICE
- JDM
- RELEASE SERIES

I think weekend days tend to be easier to get people to show up for, but next month you have mother's day on the 13th and memorial day is the 28th, and a lot of people go out of town that weekend, so that may be things to consider on choosing a date

Good idea. If you need to offset the cost and charge a registration fee do it. I wouldnt mind paying a fee. Most shows require a $25 fee. I dont see anything wrong with that.

I will say this like so many times before, there are specific problems that can not be addressed regarding "Our" shows.

-We only have three cars
-There isn't enough diversity in modifications (Most are either stock or Wild)
-Judging needs to be done by those that know. Those that know own one, therefore there is always conflict of interest.
-Then there is the whole JDM thing.

Best thing to do is gear shows around activities for owners with things to keep them busy and not focused on the cleanest or most modified ride. That way Trophies become a by product of the event and not the main focus. Because in the end there can only be three winners and one best of show, once that is established and if they decide to do multiple Scion shows, it becomes a King of the hill syndrome with no motivation to go because so and so will be there.

So I say go, have fun and show off your ride. Be proud of what you roll and with enough exposure you may one day be able to elevate the status of your ride.

Default Car show suggestions

Last year at the Hoover Throwdown, they had 3 classes for each model. They were Out of the Box, Personalized and Modified. Out of the Box was pure stock. Personalized was mild, like wheels, vinyl, LEDs , etc. And Modified was the wild class, with custom paint, killer sterios, lambo doors, air ride, etc.

But then won't the JDM'ers cry when they put in a class with B's that have wheels and vinyls and get beat? I mean if you take a pure definition of JDM, technically very few JDM boxes will cross over into the Modified class because JDM vehicles aren't heavily modified ... or are they ?

And if JDm vehicles can reach the level of some of the american custom rides then the only thing that seperates them from our own vehicles are the trinkets that they obtain from japan, and no matter how obscure or expensive they are those details just help complete a theme not become one on their own.

I can see abuse of a category like JDM because a vehicle has various decals and items exclusive to our bB counterparts, but is still bagged with custom stereos, tv's and body kits.

Whose writing the rules for JDM ? Is there content consideration? Like 50 percent of your equipment must be directly from Japan. If you want a serious catwegory for this, then lets get serious and agree how much JDM equipment makes a Scion JDM.

Why do people keep thinking we want a JDM category. We want judges that recognize JDM. Judges that wont ask "gee, whats that leaf for?"

Judges that wont just base things on graphics and fiberglass. Cause if thats the case you'd be taking it all even if your in Wild.

What makes JDM? Name brand parts, which are made in japan, the style, the effort needed to get those parts is a lot more than going to your custom shop and saying "I want lambo doors, and Fiberglass"

A judge wouldnt know about it unless they had a day job that let them study the various styles of designing cars, and research ALL the variety and brands that are available here in the US and in the mother land.

JDM, its not a cry baby group. Its a group of individuals that chooses to find the best quality parts, and usually those parts are hard to get as I stated many times before. Some of us take it so serious, that we even have JDM candy available for the judges. But they didnt bite the bait.

We dont need a seperate category, jst judges that know what they are doing. And do it fairly. I come from the whole honda rice thing, then migrated to the pepboys neone thing, and even did the fiberglass for a while. This JDM we speak of is just a new trend, which has not taking off in full effect on the east coast. But its all over the west. And as a JDMer, I feel it is my JDM duty to bring it up to speed here in South Florida.

We should have a variety of judges.
1 JDM, 1 USDM, 1 Pepboys, 1 West Coast Customs, and 1 from the dealer since they dont know about either styles, they can be the one to offset the votes or whatever.

I think they should just create another category called Multi-National Motors. Judges should recognize MnM's because they come in all different colors.... if your lucky...you will find a nut inside.

Don't get me wrong... I'm trying to learn about JDM.... but the thing that is most apparent is that to be JDM you have to jump through many hoops and smuggle oil caps inside of hookers to get something into the states for your use...... But it really sounds like the guys who try to go JDM are getting ____ed because now going through all of that trouble has no pay off (trophies). I know you are gonna say I use the trophy for target practice..... but yet you are complaining that judges don't recognize JDM..... judges = trophies. I go through a lot of trouble on my tc...... wife approval, working 3 jobs, using the little time off I have to work on my car and not take care of my house..... judges aren't recognizing that.... they recognize the ones who's mommy's and daddy's dump money into their child's 14 Trust Funds.....

I've asked questions about why do these parts look like a randomly selected color wheel.... and why would someone put a leaf on their car to signify that they are a noob driver.

***MAd TyTE JDM idea..... someone get a parking ticket in Japan and bring it back to put on their windshield at a show!***

sorry... just thought of that....As I was saying, let judges judge how they want. Put an educational display and go for the people's choice award. Just stop hating on anyone who isn't JDM. It gets old. People would try to understand if you could present things the right way.... but when you put everyone else down.... who would want to take the time to learn 'How to be an arsehole'.
