Car wont start, stuck in naples, help!
OMFG..... My car died today as I was driving..... I was shifting normally from 3rd to 4th at low rpms and the engine shut off. Fortunately I was close to where I was staying at and was able to push it 1/4 mile to my driveway.
I turned off all electronics and tried to start it. There seems to be plenty of power, I have 3 voltage meters and they all show at least 13volts. The engine just does not want to turn over. It sounds normal when I try to start it, except the engine doesn't start.... Any ideas?
I've tried to jump it off another vehicle. I took off the positive and negative wires off the battery. I gave the car 2 hours to relax in case it's a female and PMS'ing.
I can't believe this is going to be the damn thing that keeps me from going to vip... I'm so ____ed. Any ideas, please call me 407-353-3682. I'm stuck here in Naples Florida and have jury duty monday.
thanks,
Joe

SickleCell - so sorry to hear of your dilema is there any shop around that you can call and see if they can help you, one thing if you have intake it might be the oxygen sensor, which you would then have to diagnose? Do you have Intake?
I have the injen CAI. I have been running it for 7 months now.
I'm currently on the phone (on friggen hold) with David Maus Toyota.... Toyota dealerships here in collier county are closed not and are closed on sunday. This sucks so bad. I even covered my under construction sub box in suede.

Dang, second tC I've heard of just dieing now...the first one wasn't related to this, the dude was racing another car, but still, feel sorry for you bro. Does your insurance give you a rental car?
Not trying to be a smarta$$ but how would a CAI affect the O2 sensor? B/C I have the Injen as well, plz pm me tommylee.

I have the Cold air intake (long). What am i looking for when I check the sensors? Do bad sensors look different? There has been no rain. I was driving 35 - 40 mph and had just shifted from 3rd to 4th.
ok....here ya go...
check the mass flow air sensor....see if you can get a swap...with another tc...if not see if you can go to a junkyard get one from a crashed camry 2000 with a 2.4 liter....if it's not that sorry to say you will have to go to a dealer or put back the original intake and take it in....
I hope you can find the problem...sooooo sorry to hear....I wish i could help....is there anyone that can pick you up?

LOL
I'm such a
but you didn't have a f or m thingy so i just called you by the callsign and nice to meet you as well, and back on topic, sickle, did you notice any electrical drain right before it shutting off? like music/radio dying out, anything that could signal an electrical short?
Right, I get the 13v part, but if your measuring that at the battery that doesn't mean something didn't short out a circuit board or computer component somewhere. I'm no mechanic, never claimed to be, just giving you possible directions to go to check and see. O2 sensor failing seems logical too, but most things I've read about tend to lead to the ECU just fuel dumping when the O2 sensors are showing erroneous data, as far as failing I'm not sure if they cut the engine off. When you turn the ignition to on, does everything come on and can you hear the starter clicking as it trys to turn over the crank?
Joe, once again so sorry...don't forget to send me your info....and I'll get it out to you ASAP.....
Hope all works out......
I'll say a prayer for you...and don't forget to try everything I told you....
Hope all works out......
Start with the basics. If your car is not even turning over, stick your head in the fuse boxes and check fuses related to the starter or ignition. Next since your starter is visible from the engine bay, check to make sure all wires are plugged in an such. New cars just don't die. And this one has no real symptoms other than not wanting to start at all.
Good luck and get Don to tow you back to O-town .. lol
