If you havent already heard..here is the news post fromt he Miami Herald.

i honestly dont give a flying crap because i will mod my car how ever i wish.
i know my car isnt emission passable right now but i feel that since i was born and raised in the state of FL, i am grandfathered into the system

Yeah--everybody thinks that only CA has these laws. Other states require CARB approved mods as well!! Good luck!!

it says starting with the 2009 model year, so hopefully it doesnt include any vehicles before 09.. just like before when anything made after 74 had to pass.. that would suck.. but just like before you pay the emissions guy 20 cash and off you go..

i read the proposals and as far as vehicle emissions it states:

(effective immediatley)

Adoption of the California motor vehicle emmisions standards in title 13 of the california code of regulations, effective january 1st 2005, upon approval of the United States enviornmental protection agency of the pending waiver, which includes emmisions standards for green house gasses, submitted by the California Air and recources Board (_____ bastards); and adoption of statewide diesel engine idle reduction

so.. that would mean, to me, that CARB's B.S. from a 2005 proposal would be the effective laws... which means, to me, that my 06 with the california HC emissions intake I removed, thats long gone, would be illegal..

meanwhile all state run agencys will be rquired to do a self audit on there energy usage and do what they can.. imagine that..

it also showed that state utilities put out more green house gasses than all transportation combined, yet will be required to do only a 20% reduction over the next 50 years..

also, if one utilty puts out low emmisions and one high.. they can level eachother out.. so my wifes cavalier should balance out my mods.. right??

why I hate CARB..

If my car puts out so much emissions stock.. I throw an intake header and exhaust.. and my exhaust emissions do not change.. but my parts are not CARB approved, then i'm illegal.. to me that makes no sense at all.. my tail pipe is still enviornmentally friendly.. which should be the bottom line.. CARB is too harsh, and we should not be following them in anyway

I'm pretty upset about this as well, they should only include the faceless corps and heavy equipment,18 wheelers and such.

It never ends with these BS-ing politicians...

They are not the one running with removed cats etc.

The good thing is that there are some eally good highflow super duper metalic cats. it will remove the rice sound from yoru car and keep you legal yet its only like 2hp difference WHP on some cars. If your making 1k hp etc then yeah youw ill loose alot more than that, but thats when you make a test pipe.

it's amazing how fast they can pass this law but drag their butts and barely get us a property tax reduction. I guess we'll be making the rich people richer.

Right, beacause you know, the 2% of the MILLIONS of cars on the road, expelling a bit more carbon emissions, really will kill the planet

Why not just enforce people having to keep their cars in proper working order? How many times a day do I see old beaters with crappy exhuasts (or lack thereof) just bellowing out smoke as they go around? Old trucks? etc etc.

Millions of cars on the road are poorly maintained and not only do they create needless emissions, but also needlessly waste gas - creating even more demand, which pushes prices up even higher.

If people just kept their cars in good condition, then we could save millions of gallons of gas just that way. Or if

* people observed drive right/pass left on the highway...
* if we started heavily ticketing those idiot rubberneckers... keep on driving you idiot, who the hell cares if someone got in a fender bender?! Mind your own damn business and GET OUT OF MY WAY

The second is true because acceleration == uses up a lot of gas, and creates more emissions. The longer you can stay on steady cruise control, the better.

I hate it when people who don't know how to drive (especially tailgaters who don't understand that just backing off a few feet would mean they DON'T have to keep braking every few seconds like an idiot), affect my driving and force me to slow down... meaning I have to waste gas to accelerate.

Anyway, I guess the best example of this would be I-4

it means carb approved parts only.. all 3 of them.. anything else besides stock and your ilegal (drivetrain wise).. no turbo or s/c if not carb approved, no header or intake, if not carb approved, no cat-less exhaust systems, "illegal race component" inspections by the po, basically for me, means everything on my car currently must go.. and the Greddy s/c I just bought..

it also means you have to pass tail pipe emissions.. like it used to be in the 90's... they got rid of it then, because all this money was being spent, but no improvments to the enviornment.. it just doesnt work.. the 1/4 of a percent increase in cleaner air over all, doesnt help us, the money is gone, and these regulations really aren't justifyable in the end... but we know this.. yet, here we go again..

This blows! If anyone finds out more details on this, such as; when it takes effect and whether cars before 2009 will be grandfathered in, keep us posted.

Looks like there will be a lot of used performance part on sale in Florida.
