Default Gas Cover won't close

Okay, I need some help with people that work for scion company/dealership.My gas cover won't close since last weekend after I filled up my gas. Then, when I tried to close it. It started not to work.

I took my car today at David Maus Toyota and they said that it will not covered by the warranty since i got some amps and subwoofer on the back of my trunk which they said might be one of the reason the gas cover wire won't work. On my opinion, my amps wire that connect straight to battery should not affect the gas cover wiring since my amps are just on the side of my door.

David maus service advisor said that it could be also a manufacturer defect. If they found out that its a manufacturer defect, I won't be liable for it but they said if they found it something about my amps or subwoofer wiring that causing the jam on my gas cover wiring, they will charge me $365 to replace the gas cover wiring.

Waaahhh, really sucks ..hopefully, they found out its really a manufacturer defect.

i'm having sort of the same problem, my gas cover won't close unless i persuade it to with force right now. it is running as i open it too. i'm taking it in friday to be looked at, i'll let you know how it goes. anyway, they have to prove that your subs and amps caused the problem.

maybe your subs have been hitting so hard that they are actually breaking your car to pieces. anyway, it is all metal, it can maybe just be taken off and bent back to properly fit again. if not, there is a nice cf fuel door cover on ebay that i am considering getting as a replacement.

here is my thread i started earlier this week:

i got custom subs which is just floating above my trunk.. they said the wire just got twisted inside. i got my amps and subs for almost 1year now. If that causing the problem,it shouldn't take this long until it affect the gas cover wiring.

well, just be grateful your gas cap is stuck open. after i forced my fuel door closed, it suddenly occured me "what if it gets stuck like that?" imagining myself going to fill up next week and not being able to open my fuel door. but luckily it still works, but still needs force to be closed.

the only problem of not having your gas cover close is..some stupid people might try to light it up your gas and burn your whole car. So, its not good having those gas cover open the whole time

well, i don't know how bad arson is in your area, but you can get a locking gas cap if you are really worried about that.

Okay, I called David Maus again today. They said if they found out that my gas wiring cable are not block by my amps wiring. I won't pay anything not even the rental car they gave me but if they found out that my amps wiring blocking it. I have to pay $365 for labor and parts which is a good deal as long as they showed me that is really my amps wire blocking it.

Get the KY, you're gonna need it. That dealer is getting ready to stuff a pillow in your mouth.

Ok, Thanks to all your comments. Problem solve. The gas cover cable wire just got pinch by the bolts of 4 point harness that I put on at my racing seat thats why the gas cover cable got twisted and started not working. They just charge me for the labor which cause me $189.
