Hey Florida Auto Techs!
How is the pay down here?
I'm a Nissan tech, up here in the Windy City and I recently came back from the Tampa/Clearwater area, on vacation and I was thinking about moving down there. I have no ASEs at the moment and I currently work in a non-union shop and I'm making close to $50K a year!
What would I be making down here? I plan on sticking with Nissan cause I have almost 10 years with them, so I can't lose all that Nissan training! Maybe Infiniti, since it's the same crap!
Help me out guys...please!
The wife and I are thinking of making the move in about 2 years...

Dude don't move here I used to work lincoln/mercury before they closed down now I'm unemployed and it sucks. I'm a ford tech with most of my certifications and can't find a job for anything. I only have two years experience but I thought that would get me a job easily. Only techs with 4-5 years are being hired. I moving north in the following months.

Don't mean too sound negative I guess it's just the domestic dealers that are going down since all this bankruptcy issue. I wish I had went to BMW OR BENZ cause there hiring like crazy.

^^^Sorry to hear what happened about your job loss!
Good thing I work for Nissan cause they, or any other Japanese or European dealers, are closing out here. It's the domestic ones that are...
I figure I might have a chance to get in at a Nissan, Infiniti or even Toyota, down there, with the experience I have. Only time will tell... :D
