oh and well, as for dealers closing, only a few domestics have shut their doors.

I have been a tech for 12 years.. was at Miami Acura.. Economic melt down for techs making any kind of good money.. went from over 60K a year to making less than I pay for child care per month, so I had to stop.

 

However, if you can get in at a dealer and survive this slump.. awesome money, I will be back once the economy is flowing again

The work at Acura can pile up really nice.. pull in 14-20 labor hour days, consistently.. before it all went to hell.

 

lol.. thats when I did everything to my box.. now I havn't done anything to it since I quit.. best money I made any where.. Hyundai was second with 36K.. private shops at best were about 28-32K.. after I had the experience, my hourly rate was cool, I say about the 5 year mark.. pay went up a lot easier, after the 10 year mark.. you can pretty much ask for what you want within reason.
