QUICK HID QUESTION
A Friend of mine wants to know whats the legal hid is it 5000k, 6000k or 8000k?
I don't really care I'm getting 6000k but like I said friend of mine wants to know.

I'm from California, and anything over 4300k is illegal. Note I am talking about REAL HID conversion not cheap and fake HID looking halogen bulbs. However, almost all HID kits including 4300k kits are technically illegal, due to the light patterns they put out.
HID bulbs in Halogen Housing = Illegal regardless of color
HID bulbs in Halogen Projector = Illegal regardless of color
HID bulbs in all HID housing = Legal
In other words, to be legal, you need to retrofit your housings to HID housing.
As far as just the color goes, you cannot install anything over 4300k
6000k bulbs looks like cheap crap, anyway... and anything over 8000k looks nice but has much less lumens(light output) not to mention illegal.
So unless you are going for bling factor, i wouldn't pick anyting over 4300k

Eeh technically I have been reading that any type of lighting that does not come stock with the car is legal, therefore the new Maxima's or BMW's with HIDs are legal because they come factory like that.
Down here though you don't have to worry about anything, I have the 8000K and not once have I gotten pulled over FOR THAT REASON. So 6000K or anything over/under is safe down here. Hell my boy has 12,000K and hasn't gotten pulled over.

around hialeah-miami lakes area they have pulled someone over for 12k HIDs but thats rare....my bro in law has 12k and hasnt got pulled over yet..
Wat kind of audi??, im sure he will have less of a problem cuz of projectors......
