Atlanta/Roswell, GA area - CarPc/Carputer question
Has anyone in the are ever done one of these? I am seriously looking at trying it, but I 1) have never worked with electronics at this level (I've built desktops but that's mostly plug and play) 2) Never even installed a headunit 3) Don't know what the proper tools would be and probably do not have them.
Any feedback about this would be terrific. If you have one, and had someone install it for you, that information would be great too.
FYI - So I have been doing a lot of research on this, and it seems that you can get a decent carPC that will do everything the Eclipse AVN5495 can do and more, for roughly $1000 less. As far as I've seen, for that price, you are still GPS enabled, DVD playback capability, anywhere from 60-200 GB of harddrive space, WiFi capable, and Bluetooth enabled. Hence, my strong interest in finding out how to put it in. How sucky is that that I know where to get the parts, I can get them in a few months, and wouldn't know how to put them in.

I don't know if you have gone to this site yet, but it is great and answers pretty much every question you could have about carputers.

Yeah, I've been to mp3car.com. It is a terrific site, and I have a lot of research done from it. Only problem is that I've never done anything like this before and I'd hat to fry the elcetrical system or the stuff that I eventually get
