Scion FR-S Horsepower and Torque Numbers (Video)
InsideLine had the opportunity to take their Scion FR-S to MD Automotive in Westminster, CA to put it on the dyno machine. Since this is a brand new 2.0L four cylinder engine setup, they weren't sure what to expect. Take a look at the video to see the Scion FR-S in action and see the official horsepower and torque numbers.

Here's the main article link: http://blogs.insideline.com/straight...cion-fr-s.html ... and thepower / torque curve from InsideLine:

InsideLine took a "glass half-empty" attitude with the torque curve, saying that it had a 14% dip centered at 4000 RPM. I don't know how often these guys at the "Straightline" blog play with NA 4-cylinder engines, and their comparison against the VW 2.0T is also a bit "apples and oranges". All that aside, the fact that this engine is naturally aspirated and has a torque peak section from 2400 to 3300 is beautiful, considering that you usually never see that in a non-boosted 4-cylinder engine. And you still have the fast throttle response of a non-turbo car (one of the project stipulations of the FT-86 was "no turbocharging", to preserve the fast throttle response).
The best part: that flat torque curve from 4500 to 6500, to a gradual drop-off toward 7000. That's the sweet spot of this engine; it's begging the driver to rev the hell out of it. It's going to be a hard time not venturing up there during the break-in period
