The location of the threaded inserts provided for the IQ's front license plate do not align with the standard US plate holes. In order to neatly remedy that, I purchased a Cruiser Accessories Mounting Plate #79150 from Pep Boys and drilled two countersunk holes in it to match the IQ's insert locations. I then installed the backing plate on the car using M6-1.0 x 30mm countersunk, Phillips flat head screws with .257" ID x 1/2" OD x 1/2" long nylon spacers from Home Depot. The license plate was then screwed to the backing plate with the fasteners provided with the WeatherTech Clearframe plate surround that I used.
