I'm going to trade in my 2005 xB for an iQ. There are quite a few reviews complaining about road and engine noise. However, I know that is a relative thing. Is the iQ REALLY any noisier than my xB or any other low-cost import? Opinions please!

 

test drive and you shall see. what is noisy to one may be quiet to another.

 

Having driven both the xB and the iQ I'd have to say the iQ does have more cabin / engine noise. Keep in mind it's a much smaller vehicle than the xB. There isn't as much space between the motor and the driver.

All things considered, the added noise in the iQ is not a deal breaker for most people. I have added a DC Sports intake to mine which increased the engine noise on acceleration but I still find it acceptable.

 

In the iQ, you are very close to the rear window and the noise coming off the rear left quarter is noisier than other cars that have a significant back seat. I don't notice it much, but then again, I usually have the music/stereo turned up. Therefore, I would recommend an upgraded sound system
