haha

but really, why would anyone suggest kias... I wouldn't be caught dead in them. It was nice to be one of the few tC's in my town, but even now, a year and a half later, there are around 10 I see on a regular basis,

Eh. down here where i'm at, i think everybody under the age of 24 and goes to UNC-Wilmington drives a tC. (Mostly) hot college girls and the jock guys you hated in high school that wear the A&F gear and their other metrosexual gear :-/.

I hope it doesn't end up like the Beretta/Corsica where the model goes unchanged for over 10 years and still look the same......

didn't the 3000GT have the same problem? it goes through 3 face lifts and actually stays the same?

Lame......

this will make the Tc a sought out car for parts....probably the number 1 stolen car in america soon because its unchanged for the past 5 years you steal the car for the parts......you people better get those alarms installed

Default 2010 scion tC press release

new replacement models every three years.
"pure pricing" works when demand outstrips supply.
after the 2nd gen xB came out , Iwas at a scion round table meeting.
I asked when they were going to redesign the xB. They said we just did.I said that wasn't my question.
Scion worked when it was polarizing..love it or hate it.I came up behind a Chrysler mini van and thought it was a xB. yes,the 2nd gen is 10 x the car, but they shouldn't have rounded the body.
The xA is still sought after.They made the xD(a fine machine) to go against the FIT,but no one compares the two.I was upset with the idea of the 2009 tC,but last year when they told me there would be a 2010....damn.They already changed the grill & taillights and that's about how creative they ever get. Wooo,a different audio.
The colors have been sad for awhile and don't say its because there is only certain colors at certain plants.BS!
And RS cars,whoa..let's have a gray to go with our flint,maybe a blizzard white to go with super white and now...yeah a black to go with black sand...NEAT!
Anyone in Scion marketing ever think about bringing out the RS cars at the first of the model year to build excitement,instead of bringing out 20K+ '09 tCs when the 2010s are in allocation?
Scion was a great concept,but why after such success,did Toyota sit on its laurels and let others catch up?
Oh well,the iQ is coming and hopefully two new coupes,a FWD & a RWD,plus another vehicle and please some wild colors for that xB.

What I want to know is, what are they going to replace it with? The tC (indeed the whole Scion line) was originally supposed to be a stepping stone to introduce young(ish) people to the Toyota line, and then keep those customers as they mature and look for bigger/better cars. So something along the lines of:

xA ---> Matrix
xB ---> Venza
tC ---> ??????????

I have no interest in spending 32k on a IS250, or roughly double what I spent on my tC. There are no sporty models, no low-20s sport-coupes (no MINI, no GTI, no SI, etc). C'mon Toyota, bring out that 20k RWD sports coupe there have been rumors of!! If not, I'll probably be looking elsewhere for my next car when my '05 (now 4.5 years old) is finally due for replacement.

As far as sales go, here's the annual sales of the tC:

2004 28,062
2005 74,415
2006 79,125
2007 63,852
2008 40,980

Peaked in '06 and now only 50% of that for '08 when small cars should have been selling well. In fact the MINI brand was up 28% in 2008 thanks to the release of the clubman, and without it they were just about even with 2007... YTD the tC is down over 60% from last year. These are *not* good numbers, and show that the tC isn't making Toyota money. They need to come up with something and quick!

Numbers for 2008: http://forums.trucktrend.com/70/7369...ale/index.html

Numbers for March 2009: http://forums.trucktrend.com/70/7560...ers/index.html

Your statistics don't include that in 2007, the economy started to falter and in 2008, we dove head-long into a global economic recession. The tC didn't sell well in 2008 because no one was buying ANY cars from ANY maker. It has less to do with the lifespan of the tC and more to do with the fact that fewer people have the money to buy cars and even fewer dealers have the ability to grant credit to people with the credit problems nationwide.

I agree that the tC is due for a redesign, since every car in its class has had one since the release of the tC. Also, keep in mind that the older Scion gets as a car company, the less 'special' the brand will be over time since more people will have them, more will turn up on used car lots, etc, etc.

When the tC came out, it had the most powerful engine of any base model 4-cyl engine there was. It also had the most included features for the price.

Also, the tC came out ahead of lots of popular trends in low-end sport coupes. Things like xenon headlights, standard navi's, all-wheel drive, higher HP engines (granted not a lot higher) etc. These were things that were added to the tC's competitors because the tC forced them to include a feature set to compete with it.

Currently, a Corolla S and XRS have more advanced tech and features than the tC does since it's really nice 2009 redesign. I'm sure a lot of those will spill over into the tC with the new model.

Lets all just be patient. :-)

And as far as the Kia Koupe, it looks like a civic and an evo had a kid and this is what it looks like (civic style head lights and lines, evo painted front end). Kia just rips off other makers sytles. The Amanti looks like a last-gen Benz with it's dual rounded headlights, and its body shaping is like a bastardized Bently. Kia doesn't come up with their own ideas, they just steal others and combine them in such a way so as not to violate trademarks/copyrights.

Oh let's face it people.. Scion's president and creative guy who pushed scion, Jim Farley LEFT TOYOTA and is now over at Ford! That should tell you something! What does it tell? How about that even he knew that Toyota was making Scion stale and not doing the right job on how it should grow!

I suggest you take a look at the next Focus, I bet it's what the next tC would've been! Seriously.

Toyota's marketing dept is as boring as it can get. I think they're all lazy and non-responsive. They should go back to their universities and ask for their degree money back!

The next Focus was in it's design/production ready phase way before Jim left Toyota. Pretty much all of the Euro Ford design is making it way to the US way before Jim left Toyota. So I highly doubt the next tC would of looked like the next gen Focus. Pretty much Scion screwed themselves and listened to the American Market. Bigger, heavier cars is what the Americans order. We could of gotten the true 2nd gen xB, but no, it was too small and too under power for our taste. Instead we got another corolla to replace the xB. There are so many cars that Toyota could of import to fit the Scion image but is being thrown out because they are too small and under power.

Ive been away from Scion for almost 2 years and am now jumping back into the game. When I was a Scion salesman back in the day I used to be so excited about the brand and the concept behind it. Now that Im catching up on what Ive missed I feel like I lied to everybody I sold a Scion to back in the day. The concept was never followed through on. I left right when the xB2 came out. I knew at that point these type of let-downs were sure to continue. Come on Toyota. Youre smarter than this. Be loyal to what was set out to be accomplished from the start...

I hope the new tC engine when they redesign it can fit it the old tC. But, maybe having the opportunity for engine swaps wud make the tC's more like civic's. I don't want that.

And the Soul really isn't that bad. The Sport model isn't too bad and would have to be the one I got if I were to consider.

Wow that has the headlights of the Forte which has the headlights of the civic? Kia F*ckin sucks a**! I do like their 2.4 though which mated to their 6 speed might be alright. But wtf with those headlights? I freakin H8 KIA! sorry Im really mad about this post. I was ok with the Forte having those headlights but now with them putting them on yet another of their models makes me mad at their laziness...

This whole waiting game fore the new tC and this Toyobaru thing is ridiculous. Toyota is really making alot of people mad. The only toyota i would buy is a tacoma right now (current lineup of course)
