Last summer, during a trip so secret that Toyota’s public relations staff didn’t know he was here, Mr. Toyoda visited a dealership in Ann Arbor, Mich., and decided to satisfy his curiosity about a pickup truck recall.
Still wearing his business suit, he got down on his hands and knees on the warm blacktop to examine the undercarriage of one of the trucks, shocking his American hosts, who didn’t expect a corporate V.I.P. to be so hands-on.
They, and everyone else at Toyota, had better get used to it.
In June, Mr. Toyoda will take charge of a renowned company facing its most serious setback since a crisis in the early 1950s forced his grandfather, Kiichiro Toyoda, to give up control of the carmaker he founded in 1937.

The RWD subaru/toyota sports car that was talked about is set for 2012 at the earliest last I read...nothing new on "new" tc, unless that was supposed to be it?
Guess a sporty looking hyrbid is what we can all expect.
It's no surprise that Toyota is after the mainstream consumer, or that sports cars don't make much business sense, but it's still disappointing to enthusiasts and fans that had hoped against hope for the return of one of the Japanese giants.

I saw the genesis coupe at the auto show, its a really nice car, the track edition has some nice parts lsd, brembo brakes, traction and stability control.
I think i read that Hyundai is one of the only car makers who has not lost money yet, they aren't on the level of toyota, but they are starting to catch up.

I hope as the economy gets back on its feet in general that we will see at least some sporty cars in the lineup. No offense to the Scion brand, but all we will continue to see with this brand is subcompact cars. I hope Toyota will have some sense once again and bring back the memories that the Celica, MR2, and the Supra once brought. I'm a Toyota fanboy at heart, but it sucks having to see other Japanese manufacturers like Mitusubishi and Nissan take risks in bringing some "fun" sport cars like the Evo and the Z.
I hope the business dealings of helping Suburu out will materialize into a dream collaboration. That rwd coupe they've been working out doesn't seem like its going anywhere for now...
Aiko Toyoda, bring back some fun into the brand that your family had built.
