Default Lexus GS350 Ups Ante to Over 300Hp

This just surfaced through Car Spy Shots... looks like the GS300 is being pumped up to the 3.5L V6: Lexus GS350.

HORSEPOWER: 303. EXCUSES: 0. THE NEW LEXUS GS.

Introducing the new, incredibly powerful Lexus GS 350. The numbers speak volumes: 3.5-liter V6, 303 horsepower [1], 274 lb-ft of torque [1]. Numbers that translate into a potent experience at every green light, entrance ramp and passing lane.

Complementing the faster-than-fast new GS 350 is an inspired available Lexus voice-activated DVD Navigation System [3] with Generation 5 software capable of not just recognizing more than 100 voice commands, but realizing the need to offer directions as quickly as the GS is fast.

Sounds juicy! Im working at a toyota/scion dealership in florida, and everyday I tell myself i wish we had lexus too. Might as well have the family of 3 right? I mean id rather sell toyota/lexus/scion than toyota/kia/scion anyday. Lexus seems to be beefing up its line quite a bit, cant wait to see the LF-A in real life. Mmmmmmmm!

We have Lexus on our campus, as well as Toyota. I love when the new Lexus hit the lot - I just walk up the hill, hop into a new GS450h, and tear off down the street.

I find it curious that they would put less power in the GS than they debuted the IS with last year. And think about this - if this is the ENTRY level GS, what kind of power will the GS460 make?!? Yikes!

with the same power per liter, the 460 would put out 394.xxx hp.

That would make some sense, seeing as how they are shooting for 380 in the LS460. They usually have higher output in the GS.

Never been a fan of the GS lexus. I'll admit the new design looks better, but still not physically attractive enough IMHO. Plus once the new G35 sedan comes out in November with over 300hp coming out of a VQ that's 80% new and a 10 inch sub in each door panel for around 35K, I doubt lexus will sell to many of these GS's. The GS design is to blah to me. Don't see them competing with infiniti who has dominated sales in the class for the pass 4 years with the G35.

the g35 coupe? i can see how the coupe might have dominated, but did the 4 door? or did it dominate with combined sales? the only thing i don't like about the gs, is that the back seat is really small for a full size sedan. the avalon and even the camry have bigger back seats. other than that, the car is pimp.

Your right. I was just sayin' that if I wanted a 300+ horspower Sedan, I personally wouldn't take a second look at the Gs when the G35 is so much nicer and less expensive. And as far as size, G35 got it bit bigger this time around and the difference too slight to factor into the decision.

the SC430 is a 4 seater, barely... but it doesn't count. It's not sporty... it's a touring car. It's too heavy and there's no 6spd offered, plus it cost like twice what a G35 costs. and it looks just ok. Not manly at all and not near as appealing as other cars
in the two dor, V8 category.

I wasn't sticking up for the SC, just putting it out there.

lol, it's all good. i know you're trying to just state the facts. I'm a die hard toyota fan, I'm just mad cuz we don't have anything in the way of a sports car! What's up with that? All we've got is the tC and the X-runner. Where's the supra? Where's the MR2 or the celica? Even the solara is gone so now toyota has no 2 door cars.

The IS should have a V6 Coupe/cabriolet and a V8 coupe coming in 07/08.

I would love to see lexus take the MR-S chassis, stretch & widen it a little, and put the 3.5V6 in the engine bay...Give it the Lexus interior treatment, and keep the weight around 1150KG (the MR-S is about 950, so this is completely possible) and some sweet sheetmetal...Instant coupe/converible classic, Z4 killer. Toyota/Lexus, are you listening??
