Has anyone looked at the top ten leader board, it is all Mustangs

 

This is just silly. I would love the 10k for my xB, but there is no way I would win it with it being almost stock (except for the wheels). Oh well, I'm sure some nice looking cars will come out of this even nicer.

 

So...you need an incentive to spend $$$ on your car? All I need is the $$$.

 

exactly. it's for ppl without money to freely spend on expensive hobbies.

simple example: take 10k and invest it with an 8% return?
or take 10k and have the chance of an immediate doubling.

i'm not a business or economics major but think about what you would do with 10k. buy an old track car? fix up a beater? start saving for a 98 supra? fix your house/garden, invest in stocks/bonds/save for retirement etc etc...
i think the plot is convincing ppl that the BEST way to spend their 10k (or however much $$) is in cars...specifically those that now (artificially) "need" the meguiar's product.


i think it also encourages a habit of spending as soon as you get money so if you come across a chance like this in the future you will be prepared.
then of course there is the publicity and branding, but that's just obvious.

 

If I had 10K, I would not spend it on my car, but if I had 10k to spend on my car, I could do a whole hell of a lot.

 

It appears the mustang club owners are fixing the top 10 list. It's time for all SL members to vote down the mustangs and vote up the Scions. Any takers?

Side note: the top 10 list does not indicate who will win the overall contest.

Maybe Meguiar's should work on actually, oh I don't know, releasing a decent number of new and improved products to compete in the modern detail market rather than wasting money on stuff like this

actually the way that this contest is set up doesn't mean you have to have the best car to win. you only have t get the most votes. if you were to advertise for people you know to vote for your car every day you could win without having a perfect car.if you take the time to try to recruit friends from scionlife, myspace, facebook etc. to vote everyday you could win this contest. what you are doing is providing free marketing to meguiars and that is why they set up this contest.

 

This will deffinetly be won by the person on the biggest forum with the best reputation. I would enter for the chance to go to vegas, but I dont know if SL has a big enough following to put me at the top.

 

I entered just for kicks. Took me 5 minutes and why the hell not. There's a lot of complaining in this thread but if you look at the current Top Ten list on the site its not the cars with the most money spent on them at all.....

i would definately try this, unfortunately my car is stock and has no WOW factor.

you guys are approaching this the wrong way.
take a cue from votefortheworst and american idol.

lets all find the worst looking hoopty and campaign for that one. that'll teach em to get free advertising off a hot car! and we can ensure that the guy who needs the 10k most will win it.

 

in the end it wasn't the worst that won tho
