And also as far as I knew, they were discontinuing the xA within the next year or so. But hey, its just my opinon.
And before you go and say "scion and toyota are the same company!".....They're NOT. Toyota sells scion, and puts a celica engine in them to keep up with the U.S. emissions standards. That is the only place they merge (so far). I was told this by numerous dealerships. That scion is it's own company in japan and is liscenced by Toyota out here.
Correct me if im wrong. lol. I just repeat what I've been told!! Not trying to fight! = )

As for what you said about Celica engines, I highly doubt my tC is on a Celica block since the specs are different and the Celica's been discontinued (its actually a newer Gen Camry block). And from what I believe, there isn't even Scion in Japan from what I believe, but I can be wrong about that.
But usually they dispense faulty information because they really don't care. Salespeople often come and go at dealerships in a matter of months, so they are not going to care to accurately learn all the details that we, the enthusiasts, care about.
1. Scion is a division of Toyota. It only exists in the United States. There are rumors it may open in the U.K. sometime soon.
2. The xA and xB are based on the Toyota Echo. They are Japanese domestic products which are rebadged as Scions for the United States. In Japan, they are the ist and bB, respectively.
3. The tC uses the Camry's 2.4L engine. It is based on the European-market Toyota Avensis, a 4-door sedan.
4. The xA is Scion's slowest selling model. It received a minor "freshening" for 2006, so the chances are it will live for at least 1 to 2 more model years.
5. Both the xA and xB are likely to be redesigned or replaced with new products by the 2009 model year (which starts in 2008, about 2 years from now). This is not speculation based on specific knowledge; it's just the cycle of life for a car model. Usually after 5 years, the model is either "freshened" or completely redesigned. Slow selling models get replaced with a car similar in size and specifications but with a new name. Some cars live longer (Mazda Miata, for example; it went 8 model years before a major redesign).
I hope that helps.

And yah, the original spy photos do have a Mazda3 resemblance. If this is NOT the new Corrola and is really a Scion model (FYI, it could always be both), I'd say it's an xA replacement. The design of the xA (5-door hatch) is the same as the spy photos.
the side profile looks almost identical to a Mazda3 5-door
......wait a minute.....(looks outside to xB) my xB has 4 doors....and so does the xA...so why another 4-door hatchback? it would make more sence to go with a 4-door tC
