If the xD only had 4 wheel disc brakes it would help justify the price increase in my mind. A 15+ car in this day with rear drum brakes is pretty lame. Fit included but it was a five year old car before it came to the US. Rear disk should at least be a option. Brake fade for christ sakes! I wish mazda made this car.

it used to be $580 everywhere but just recently Toyota added a $40 increase to the delivery processing and handling fee so its $620 nationwide now

That's not too bad considering the doc fee for California is $55.00- up from $45.00.

Is the Vehicle Registration fee calculated at the MSRP or total cost?

Total Cost for the automatic would be $16,620.00: $15,350(MSRP)+$620(destination fee)+ $650 for stability control.

Using the Vehicle Registration fee Calculator at CA DMV site for my county using estimated total cost= $1,462 Grand Total Registration fees.

My estimated "out the door" price is $18,082.00.

but foreclosures are at an all-time high for this exact reason.
Actually, that would be the fault of hyper aggressive mortgage companies taking advantage of consumers ill-equiped to understand the market. Sure, personal responsibility plays a role here, but so do sharks that are very good at telling people things they want to hear.

Im guessing the registration fee is the same as sales tax here in NY...if you wwere to go wth the $16,220, you would pay sales tax (8.625% in Suffolk County NY) which would be $1433.48 + Title fee-$45, plus NYS safety inspection $10 and NYS waste tire recycling fee $12.50 which equals a grand total of $18,129.98 The only thing additional would be for your plates...New plates=2 yr registration=estimated $130...transfer plates from existing vehicle=estimated $85

>Versa: with 15" alloys, 6-speed and bluetooth it's $300 cheaper than xD.

The Versa, now that's a scary thought. It's one of the ugliest new cars on the road.

Hate to fling my opinion around about the looks of a vehicle, but I have to agree on that one. I would've been driving the Versa if it did not disagree with me so much on the looks. Nissan needs to tame these headlights a tad and get out of the 90's with the whole front end.

I'd like to take this opportunity to caution everybody on buying a 2007 model vehicle for a couple of reasons:

- 08's are available

- the 08 EPA standards are going to hit different cars and different manufacturers differently. It's not a simple 2 mpg deduction across the board and it will effect the city mileage worse than the hwy. And I know one poster on here rented a versa with the CVT. His mileage? he said it was around 22 mpg all around.

Versa is made in Mexico, and you definately do NOT want a car built there...my focus is and its crap(the ones built in the U.S. have way less problems)...Plus looking at ratings to prove my point I noticed the versa had very bad reviews. Sites like Truedelta etc...

22 mpg + Mexico - that right there would've steered me ways away from the Versa even if I liked the looks.

no need, i just listed it above...it goes the same for all regions. The only thing that would reflect a price change is if you order accessories.
actually you are wrong, i will get under invoice price and get accessories at invoice price. Toyota Corp employee purchase
are you an employee or is your brother in law? Cause if he is and your the one buying the car your gonna be paying what everyone else is paying...if he puts it under his name thats a different story

why this over a fit or a versa? monospec, pure pricing, toyota quality. i priced the fit and yaris and looked at the versa before i got my xA a year ago. just the fact i didnt have to deal with "options packages" or "additional dealer markup" made it worthwhile for me. sure, the versa has more available options/bigger engine, and the fit has the "magic seat". but the versa is also a mexican-built nissan, which are 2 strikes against it for me. the fit? nice, but more expensive.

biggest problem i see with the Versa (either model) is complete lack of ABS, which is a deal-breaker for me. I've been to 3 dealerships and not a single ABS model available. The Scions, on the other hand, have ABS, ebd, ba, etc. etc. standard, and having stability control optional is also something very high on my list (small car+stability control=insurance savings.). besides, i hated how it drove. of course, comparing the versa to a yet-to-be-released car is kinda hard....

Been told it's $650, and they're supposed to have accessory pricing soon.

Default Here is what I'm looking at

Xd
5spd tranny
Remote start
Interior illumination
vehicle stability control
illuminated door sills
overhead console box
scion security system
cargo cover
rear spoiler

$16,103 Doesnt include delivery/tax/lic

might go without the alarm and spoiler which would save $628...
Also depends on if i like the cargo cover and console box which are about 200 each...
