Default Rumors about 2008 Toyota Tundra Double Cab

Rumors have surfaced that the new D-Cab Tundra is going to be HUGE. Sources have told me that the cab alone will be 18" shorter than the existing Sequoia -- BUMPER to BUMPER. The Sequoia is 203.9", which would put the Double Cab at around fifteen feet long.

Three bed options should be available. Obviously 6' and 8' beds are standard, so what will the third be? Shorter at 4'? Longer at 10'? Someone was overheard inside Toyota talking about a 10' option... but all we can do at the moment is speculate.

But a truck isn't a truck unless it has a diesel, right? That is one area that Toyota and Nissan trucks have fallen short of the Big Three. Toyota has the capital and the motive to simply buy the engine manufacturer of their choice. If I had to venture a guess, I would start pointing my finger at Cummins.

Remember that Toyota also owns Hino, but Toyota offers many model with diesel powerplants overseas. Most nations have a diesel Hilux available. I think there is a plan for a diesel, but I guess that they are not ready to release the info yet, or maybe they just haven't finalized what engine they will offer yet.

I think now that Toyota owns 10% of the Suburbu's parent company, Toyota has access to a lot of diesel technolgy. I could be totally mistaken.

Yea, Toyota has already made known that a Diesel is in the works. Who will be making it/ what its performance will be is the unknown.

Would be sad if toyota bought cummins. Cummins supplies engines and parts for there competitor... I am not sure Toyota would do that. Try this title,.. Dodge Toyota Diesel Quad Cab 4x4 Lariat? Taking away that engine and ability from Dodge would be bad for the market. That company has produced an engine that is by far one of, if not the best truck engine for the last 10 years.

And lets be real... would you want a Toyota designed cab or Dodge? Dodge just looks built, Toyota trucks have always looked like Toys.

Cummins also supplies Ford with some diesels for the big trucks. F-750, F-850 and such.

Ford actually owns Cummins but Cummins has a long contract with Dodge, if someone were to buy Cummins from Ford (who like GM is trying to offload some of their expenses) They would have to honor the contract too.

Toyota has plenty of diesel technology in their hands, but in America which of the following would sell more: Tundra Cummins Diesel or Tundra Fujitsu Heavy Equipment Diesel?????

It more than likely WILL NOT be Cummins.

It WILL more than likely be CATERPILLAR where we get our diesels from.

So, Tundra D-Cab CAT 4x4 anyone?

Hey, Cat would make a nice Diesel for the Tundra too....Toyota's website says they are after the true truckers so I would guess they are going to try for the biggest truck out there. Sure sounds like it at least.

Will it really be the biggest truck out there? Why diesel vs hybrid

half electric half diesel rather than half electric half gas.

toyota is very evormental consiuos, they make diesel vehicles. Because U.S strick emissions they choose not to sell this vehicles here. You will see more hybrid vehicles built. Two sorces of ernergy working together to maximezie power an lower emmisions(sinergy). People here hybrid an think gas mileage.

It WILL be the biggest truck around, by a long shot. GMC will be debuting their new truck around the same time, so we need to pay careful attention to that.

But wait until our SUPER DUTY gets released. We have to build new service bays here at the dealership just to work on them.
