love the A BAT think it could be cool in final concept. Wish Toyota would actually open the ears a bit and listen to what we are all screaming for. RWD COUPE with POWER!
even an OD type xB could be cool......

Hako ftw
Hako ftw
You guys said it, we need a supecharged xp pickup truck to revamp the former super truck war, you know the harley davidson, ford lighting, 454ss and the viper truck, but with a 4 banger and also superb fuel economy. Then a rival for the smart, the iq.
I thought the Toyota iQ to Scion iQ deal was already finalized, now they're saying it was just an "idea"? I still would definitely like the to buy the iQ but only if it has the same amount of head room as an xA or better.
As for the scion truck idea, I would only accept it if it looked like the bb open deck. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dSIjHr-eJxc

maybe it has to due with safety issues.. since the IQ IS pretty darn small.. just imagine getting slammed on the freeway... not a lot of leeway and crumple zones on such a small car to lessen the impact.. its not mercedes tough like the SMART.. so it'd be a pretty dangerous car to drive around speeding traffic..
not only that but i cant see much customizing with it.. since trunk space is practically nil.. so no sub for those audiophiles, small engine.. so no REAL point in modding the 1.0 liter engine..
dont get me wrong.. i think the car is unique and i love the way it looks.. and i LOVE the fact that the UK version got an average of 500 mpt.. which would save loads of money on daily commuters.. i HOPE it would be released.. even though i probably wouldnt get it.. as one car for me is more than enough.. but it'd be good to see it in the states

Those micro cars like the smart and iQ are made with a "shell" sort of like a roll cage.
here's a quote from smart
"The highlight of the safety management system is the tridion safety cell. The safety cell is made from steel, half of which is high-strength material, especially in highly stressed areas. The cell is designed to keep occupants protected. The reinforced steel and the design of the car, including the wheel bases, allow the distribution of the crash energy. "
you're in you're own little bubble, or shell, protected... just as safe as any other car.

^ yeah I'd heard that the smart car had some kind of protective shell thing that keeps you safe. While I haven't heard of anything like this for the iQ, I would think that Toyota do something similar. I did read somewhere that the iQ would be the first to have full 360 degree air bags, so that's something to consider.

It's been widely reported over the last year that Scion is planning to add a fourth model to its lineup, but there's still considerable debate about what form it could take. According to Scion veep Jack Hollis, Toyota's entry-level automaker hasn't taken anything off the table, but believes "there are a lot of opportunities for a [second] coupe" to join the aging tC.
Unfortunately, Scion's been resting its laurels on its lone coupe for some time, and the current model will remain in production until the redesign arrives in 2011. That's an achingly long time in the automotive world, particularly considering the three- to four-year model cycle most automakers adhere to. And with rumors circulating that the Toyota/Subaru rear-wheel-drive coupe has been shelved, we're a bit skeptical that a performance model is still in the near-term cards.
So what's Scion considering? Hollis told Automotive News, "We think there is room for a bigger sedan and smaller vehicles. We think there is even the possibility for a truck-based vehicle with an open bed." The idea of bringing the Toyota iQ to the States has been floated before, as well as a production version of the Toyota A-Bat. If Scion really wanted to shake things up, it could produce a compact version of the Hako Coupe with an open bed (rendered poorly above) to kill two (or three) birds with one stone.
