Scion Hako Revealed at NY Auto Show
WTF is about all i can come up with.. i was anxiously awaiting coming home to see these pics and when i caught my first glipse of a thumbnail online my eyes about fell out of my head.. Scion... you started by picking 2 models out of your japanease lineup and rebadged them and you were succuessful. YOU already make cars that will sell!! pick a couple more out of your japanease collection and throw em into production for the US

I like the 1940 Coupe Retro look. Great Concept.
Now for the Big question!
Will this or something like it ever be produced?
@tCTaco - You're not alone. I thought with the introduction of SCION that we would see more Asian and European models in the showroom. The Daihatsu Copen, Be Go & Mira Custom would get my vote.

what else can you do to it?
the problem with this stylized concept is that it limits you too much. there are only so many ways you can do a hot rod/rat rod
its a one-trick pony. and sadly, it will become stale very quickly
try making this look follow the VIP style, or try making it look futuristic...
its a bit ironic.
we turn to the JDM market for their quirky designs and now the 'trend-setting' japanese youth are turning to American hot rods for their influences.
the problem is that we already experienced it in our culture and in all the retro designs that the Big 3 have put on the market... that 'theme' has been done to death in the US car market.

According to the Japanese carmaker, the Hako Coupe was developed by Tokyo Design Division, which studied global, youth-inspired trends and in particular, American vintage style among young Tokyo trendsetters.
