Scion Hopes Nissan Cube will Spur Youth Interest
I would be hard pressed to buy another Nissan after what they've done to their lineup. Nissan, along with several other automakers, has decided to give people giant, gas guzzling SUVs... and one economy car. Sorry, not interested in the Cube anymore. I'm thinking they'll just do the same thing Scion did to the 2008 xB in order to get a bigger market base: make it bigger, heavier, less efficient, and homogenized. By the time it hits the showroom, it'll look like an HHR.
If and only if they put a diesel engine in it would I consider the "Cubicle"
With the correct gearing for the US highways.. should be looking at somewhere in the mid to upper 60 mpg range (or higher!) with the "git up and go" equal to the 1st gen xB.
All you would have to do is twin turbo, intercool and aftercool the engine. an SD- 2.4 liter will put out somewhere around 160 hp, and a ton of torque me thinks.
