Scion Plays Hard to Get
Gotta say I've got mixed feelings about this... more Scions on the road = bigger aftermarket and more/cheaper parts. I suppose if they're rare to begin with, there's less need to customize... and more incentive to come up with some truly unique mods. Hm.
why is it when I post this article 2 days prior no one responds:

It has also been posted earlier - and responded to - in other places here on ScionLife... Here's one.

well if it comes down to it, to save money I'll cheat and just buy a few totaled xbs when I have to cash so I can run mine till I'm too old to even be driving it, just so I can park it in my living room and remember, just like I'm gonna do my truck
SecondLife rules...
as a dealer and an owner of an xB Im torn on lowering production numbers. I have a living to make and if I dont have the cars to sell than paying bills becomes a problem. As an owner Im really tired of seeing as many Scions on the road as I do these days. Im special damnit! Stop driving my car...

Yea, Toyota's big enough to try stuff like this. I'm with them all the way on this, because 9 out of 10 Scions I ever see (excluding the tC's) are driven by old people, and I see a lot of Scions. It sucks.
Yea, so much for the youth attraction. I work at a grocery store at an air force base, and I see a lot of retiree's Scions in the parking lot. That's most of what I see, the rest are driving in that area.
Hm.. i already see tons of tC's around this area. I just recently noticed the incrase in volume of this car, haha, i guess i was too late ot enjoy its limit numbers days. But maybe once again, those days will return..altho it'll mostly benefit the newer models that coming out.
I wonder if the price of the new (2008 & Up) Scions is going to be inflated based on the fact that there will be a "limited quantity" of them available. I dunno... this attitude in sales taints my view of Scion in a negative way. I thought that they were all about "pure pricing" and about making the buying experience better . . . but, now I'm going to be skeptical whether the [unadjustable] price is unfairly inflated. I also wonder if dealers will use this limited numbers thing as a motive to make APR higher. Hopefully, Scion will keep their production limits high.
But then again we don't even know the specs of the two new models.

The xA and xB were both underpriced compared to the rest of the market, so there might be some increase in the price just to correct a little of that. The Scion marque was always intended to be a limited availability, limited model run, quirky group of cars, that presented high reliability, low cost options to young, new buyers. The idea is to start 'em on the Scions and when it comes time to move up to snazzier cars, they will look at Toyota. I think they are doing their job damned well!
The 2008 models will likely be higher priced - just inflation takes it up about 3% a year. Besides that, they will be "longer, lower, wider, with a bigger engine" vehicles, that will also have more goodies (side airbags, tire pressure monitoring, etc.).
The next set isn't going to be the "introductory set" that the xA and xB were - they will likely be more refined, more complex, more expensive vehicles. They will still probably be an exceptional value in today's market.
Well see soon enough.

I dunno. Seems more like Scion is going to only have 1 model for a time being, so they have no choice but to reduce the brand.
I think they believe they can sell more larger-sized xB's because the tC is their top model.
No longer a need to offer 1.5L models as Scions, since the 2.4L tC sells more, and the Yaris is doing well under the Toyota brand.
