SL downtime on Tuesday, Oct. 9
you should consider linking your db server with your application server via phiber and having your homepage on a totally different server along with maybe another part ....to get the load equal. This site always had high latency nomatter what darren threw at it (but he would never let me help so I dont know all the specifics).

^ sounds great - the site surely needs it. Im glad you are putting the work into the site to make it run better ... I just hope it doesnt get full with popups because it will kill your loyal members.
Not yet. We're still sorting out some details. Sorry it's taking this long... we just want to make sure we're doing everything possible to ensure a smooth transition. We host a number of other forums as well and are doing some work to bring in more bandwidth to handle everything.
OK... we're looking good for migrating the forums to new hardware on Tuesday, October 8. We'll take the forums offline at 11AM PDT. They will probably come back online around 4-5PM PDT, maybe a bit sooner.
This downtime was originally going to happen a couple weeks ago, but we decided to delay so that we could get set up with a new upstream network provider & therefore have more available bandwidth. (LOTS more.)

Quite honestly, that was an amazingly quick move.
Looks like most everything made it over to the new hardware, and it is definitely quicker.
Be interesting to see how it stands up to a really busy day.
Thanks, guys!!!
