tC Named One of the Worst Poser Cars ... by Jalopnik Readers
I think it's stupid when people talk crap when people have been doing this to their civics and other lower end cars forever I haven't read the article but the civic better be on there too for the same reason if the tC is. Otherwise it's just fanboys being butthurt because it's not their particular brand.
Don't get me wrong, Honda and Toyota's are both great brands. I can even appreciate some of the domestic brands. The jalopnik/gizmodo/kotaku base can be just a bunch of over-opinionated nerds and they're basing the quality of the car based on the "ricer" dude-bro crowd that really encompasses the market as a whole not just Scion.
I think bigger in...going around tracks faster than Evo's and STI's.
I just bought a new 2012 tC, and yes, the car is no sports car. The Jalopnik tools should evaluate performance based on cost of the vehicle. I just offloaded a 2007 Mini Cooper S with plenty of mods. Reasonably quick, handles like a go kart. However, $3,500 for a new clutch, $2,500 for a new timing assembly. If you want to play fast, bring your checkbook.
The tC is a great package for what they charge for it. If you want to put a big pipe on the back and load it up with window decals, then yes, you too can be a poser.

Yeah the tC is not a sports car.. but however you can make it an off road drifter or anything... i just prefer to have mods on it so it will look nice and sound great. Its mainly because if I know the engine is great then I want to hear it when I am shifting. Am I wrong for that?
I'm just over 30 and bought my tc a few weeks ago (new 2011). I was originally looking at the speed3, GTI, Genesis etc.
Specifically i was looking for a fun family car (First child on the way).
I don't race my cars at all so after about 10 months of wanting a fast car i thought...
"Self, why pay more for more power, higher cost in fuel (premium/mileage), higher insurance only to get to 130kms/h on the HWY in a second less then have to back off?" (i reside in Ontario so if you get caught stunting, racing or driving 50km's over the limit, car=impounded.)
Then looked at options... where else can you get standard 18" rims, heated leather, panoramic roof, spoiler, mud guards 180hp 175tq, 31mpg hwy etc...etc... for less than 25 grand CDN? (you simply can't)
My friend just bought a ford focus.. smaller rims, no sunroof, 165hp, no leather for about $25 grand.
Besides, the TC feels like a sports car after driving a ford ranger for 3 years!

I have 96 chevy s10 with a 4.3 that dynoed at 187 @ 3350 curb. My 2012 scion with air intake and exahust can stick with my truck with a full gas tank in the scion. I can inch away from a stock vette from the 80s in my truck. Low on fuel. Love to see what it can do with headers, ecu and some 16x8 rpf1s.

Because all the hottest IC's and embedded systems are on Scionlife... Never any made in China from a low quality fab. Totally high yield wafers only hahaha.
Who cares what some article says? Lol the term "sports car" is a loose term at best...the stock Pontiac Firebird that the Hoff drove in Knight Rider came with a whopping 150 bhp and had a ponderous 0-60 time of 9.2 seconds or 10.8 if you had the auto and that was a "pony car" "muscle car" "sports car" or whatever you want to call it...lol our 4cyl "sporty" coupes could run circles around that thing in reverse. The tC is a nice car and not to shabby a performer, it's a nice ride to mod and enjoy.
