^^^ Because the current Solara is based on the previous generation Camry and would require a fair amount of modifications to except the 2GR engine. Toyota is slowly phasing out the old 3.0/3.3L V6's as each model is brought up to the current platforms. Besides, TMMK (where they're built) has had a full plate for the last 18 months with major model changes for both the Camry and Avalon. Not a lot of resources lately for the Solara, but that may change.

BTW, the Matrix is, indeed, called the "Corolla Matrix". Combining names of vehicles that share common platforms allows companies, like Toyota, to lump sales numbers together. Matrix sales count as Corollas and Solaras count as Camrys....important marketing on high-volume units.

they need to bring back one of the original options for the solara.... the 5 speed manual. that was a great setup for the trd supercharger or the various turbo kits that are available.

They call it the "Camry Solara" and the "Corolla Matrix" so that they can include it in total Camry and Corolla sales. It's for the bean counters.

What, no Manual for the 6 cyl?!!

Tell me it isn't so! All I see are spec's for the Automatic for the 6 cyl configuration...

If it LooKs like a Sports Coupe, but doesn't deliver the goods, ... what is it, ReallY?

^^^ The demand for a 6cly/manual combo proved too low to justify offering it.

BTW, the Solara is more of a touring coupe than a sports car.
