I don't mean to be so anti-terrestrial but they're really unlistenable to me.

Oh by the way, Oppie and Anthony suck, Howard will rule the airwaves.

O&A PARTY ROCK
I saw this comming when the sports networks were getting split up between the two. The market just insn't big enough to support both services at the moment, and it may never get there with all of the other options availiable, including portable players that carry all the music you can get your hands on.
You can buy a Roady 2 for 50.00, or less. They are glad to loose money on the receiver, so they can make money on the monthly fee.
But neither company is really making any money. This will probably be a good thing. I can see it now, keep your XM subscription and add Sirus for only 4.99 more a month...Squeeze some more dollars out of existing customers and put it all into one pot.
I travel a lot for work and I have had XM for about 3 years now. The Chill, Big Tracks, Beyond Jazz are some of my favorites. But I still listen to "land" radio. The Don and Mike show (syndicated nationwide-KHTK 1140 AM in Nor CA) in the afternoons is my favorite.

If they name the merged company skynet I'm sooo getting my aluminum foil helmet ready...
Personally I can't stand any radio. I got my ipod in the tC and take all my music with me so I'm always listening to what I want, commercial free.

I bet I have a contender for the new name:
Xirius
This will be good news because I have XM in my tC (3 months free, and now pay) and had and still have Sirius in my old car (fiance drives it now). They both have their good sides and music selection. This will make it all the better.
As for prices, they have to compete with free HD-Radio, internet radio, and there are other satellite radio companies in other countries that could transition over here, so I doubt they will raise prices. If anything, buy a lifetime contract and have no worries.

Ha. nice Terminator reference.
I heard somewhere earlier today when i brought up this subject up that they were merging, someone said that they were merging to battle HD radio, and i was thinking "this cant be true", i really didn't even know HD radio was that powerful.

You guys should just forget about sat radio. Get a Palm Treo (650 for me) download NewMunduRadio and listen to any radio station you can find using ur phones' internet. Just get the URL address, update ur internet account and tada. Up to 1000 radio stations in ur phone, not to mention that if u have a 4GB SD card in ur phone U can put a bunch of ur personal music.
Ok, i just noticed this on the AVIC forums, what about XM NAVTraffic? Ive seen that Sirius is(was) developing a broader traffic network, but XM has a stronger hold, i wonder whose traffic precedent will take precedent.
If u can get the 700p that would be perfect but, wife would smack me if I upgrade. She bought me the 650 just 10 months ago. In a side note, we used to have Sirius and I loved their programing not to mention Rumba!!!, but for some reason we had issues with the reception here in Tulsa.
if you ever do upgrade, you're gonna be in for a world of goodness, the 700p is pretty cool, for internet radio, i recommend pocket tunes, not to stray off topic to far. And I haven't used either Sirius or XM, but i think i would go with XM I had to choose.
Yeah, I've had feedback from friends that Sirius reception in Nor CA can be a problem. XM is very good, unless you're in a canyon traveling east-west!
The Palm internet radio is an interesting idea. That would help pay the monthly mobile internet charges if you subtract the cost of a XM radio subscription that you wouldn't need anymore.
Hmmm...I love "justifying" a new toy!
