Thanks, these replacement headlights sell for $209 on eBay vs $400+ for the real OEMs. DIY, might just happen after I retrofit my 08'+ OEMs. This is my spare set currently installed right now.

VERY nice of you to post the pics up and compare. I've been waiting for someone to do this comparison.

I've done a retro already and I noticed the eagle eyes / depo bowl has no limiters like the OEM bowl. The OEM bowl is designed to focus the beam towards the middle of the road and not to the sides.

The eagle eyes bowl seems to have wider coverage.

Happy to share!

I would have to say the OEM projector bowl is much better, the Eagle Eyes bowl is metal, heavy and the chrome isn't as good. I'll be looking for a OEM H11 projector set to replace these soon.

Good to know what they look like on the inside. What exactly did you spray with VHT? The bowl itself?

^ cutoff shield front & back painted black to reduce reflection and glare. You must run/bake the projectors before installing back into the housing, they will smoke a little til the paint settles.

Hmm I may need to do that. I was thinking about going to TRS today to finally get a kit. I'm at the last straw with mine.

Call them right away and ask them for the previous generation 35W ballast for $70, 20" cord and your choice of AMP or D2s connectors. You will need to run a harness though!! I tried it without and they wont even startup. Great deal.

TRS Sale Here

I'll probably just get a new kit. With the harness and bulbs I'd be looking at $145 and a new kit with everything is $150.

Ask about the used Denso ballasts, I saw a pile of them, I'm tempted to go full OEM.

Will do. I'd like to use OEM ballasts as well. If it's the same price or less with the converters then that's the route I'll go.

You guys are lucky that you're so close to TRS haha.

Interesting information, I was thinking about buying a set of these for my RX330 retrofit but maybe I'm better off going with a set of OEM takeoffs if the mounting brackets are plastic.

Can't decide if I want the new 3Fives or the old ones though, $70 is a good deal.

haha, ya TRS just moved here in August, lucky! 3Five ballasts old or new, no electronics deference, just cosmetics. I picked up the 3Five for $70 with 20" cord. COUPON CODE TRSRCFS -free priority shipping
BTW the RX330 retro in the OEM bucket you need to remove alot of the metal bracket, in the Depo bucket the bracket opening is already close to the right size. I will do a weight comparison next time I open the Depo's.

I was planning on needing to trim the bracket, but that's a good reason to go with the Depo's. I'm still concerned that the mounting surface might not be as solid and they won't seal as well, what do you think having looked at both? The comparison is much appreciated

Yes the plastic bracket does concern me, I will weigh the RX330 AFS tomorrow (13.4oz), but chances are it weight less than the Depo projector. I wont be installing the RX330s for a few weeks, I will report back when it happens.

I won't get around to installing mine for a little while either, even if I do get the headlights I need to pick up the ballasts for testing and make custom shields first.

I'll probably retrofit over the Thanksgivings holiday, a test power supply and ballast would be nice, but used extended ballast cables jumped off my TC for testing purposes. A shopping mall or parking garage is perfect for this. Also a parking garage with painted lines helps with aiming and aligning.

Standby on the custom shields, Stupidpig out in SF has a CNC machine and created set that looks very promising.
