08 headlights going under the knife QUAD Projectors #$%&
I have a pair of stock headlights laying around and I would mind letting someone borrow them but... I need some help. I bought some cheap ebay projector headlights and they are nice but they arent exactly what I wanted. I havn't ever done anything as far as headlight retrofit and I think I really want to do something different with them. My main problem is, I bought 2 sets of hid kits for high beam and low beams for these headlights and now I need to get new ones or modify these ones. I bought hid's for h1 and h7 bulbs so obviously they wont fit in the stock housing. I guess the point im trying to get to is i dont mind lending someone my stock headlights but In return I could use some help with this headlight situation. I'm half scared to bake the new ones because I havnt done it and If i mess them up, I have to buy new housings with the same bulb size as my hid kit, and If I bake my stock ones open and mod them, my hid's don't fit... lmfao. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Just pm if you would like to borrow the stock headlights. Also, What bulb sizes are the new 08 headlights? And what are the bulb sizes for the tsx and fx?
Well I got home last night and these were waiting on me...

Since getting these I was wondering if someone had some previous experience with any Bi-Xenon projector? I am trying to setup the FX35 projectors to flip to the high beam when I turn them on the high beam in the car.
I have been looking at shrouds to use in the high beam. I really wanted e46 shrouds, I think they would look really good on the projectors. The only ones I could find were on Ebay for $150+. So I have decided to make my own. I searched high and low for ideas people have used to make shrouds and nothing really impressed me until i saw this shroud.
This guy did a great job on piecing together that shroud so for $20 I bought two of these.
I purchased a pair of 6000k bulbs, and pair of D2S wire harnesses for my ballast.
I have almost purchased everything to complete my eye surgery. All that's left to buy:
Bi-Xenon kit for FX35 projectors "suggestions plz, i am still learning about Bi-xenon"
Clear lens to replace frosted FX35
Hopefully in a week or so I will have some time to start putting all this together. School and work are leaving me with little free time but spring break is coming up and it is looking like a promising time to do this project unless I find a cheap set of replacements to use while I have the 08's off. If anyone has any suggestions to what kind of Bi-xenon kit to use with the FX35 projectors I would love to hear. Also what are your thoughts about the shroud? Think it will look good in the high beam ring on the lights? Well take care people. I will try to make some progress with this soon.

OMFG! Excuse my netlingo. I finally got some free time this afternoon and decided to go ahead and mount up my TSX projectors. Well after five hours, two of actually installing it and three aligning the freaking thing level.
Let me just let anyone know who wants to retrofit a 08 HL with tsx projectors beware. Spacers are needed, drill your holes perfect. I was off less than 1/32" and my right side projector has a slight tilt to it. Well it was around 11pm when I got everything adjusted with the right side I thought about the left and decided to do it tomorrow.
The projector itself is amazingly bright. It is 2-3X brighter than the stock projectors. I noticed that the stock projectors have frosted lens and a set of clear tsx ones or some custom ones would improve the output of the stock projectors. I might try a clear lens on the left side to experiment.
Tomorrow I plan to mount the left tsx projector and taking a few pics for you guys. While I had the light open I was trying to figure out how I am going to mount the fx35 projectors in the highbeams. It is going to take some serious mounting work to get it set up inside.
I have my shrouds at a chrome shop right now being polished and chromed and a little bit of painting done also. I could not find a set of e46 shrouds so I decided to make my own shrouds and try to save some money on this project.
Two new ideas have come to mind:
Well I want to get rid of the halos I think the will look a little funky sitting on top of the chrome rings. I have an idea to incorporate halos in to the project but that is a surprise.
Second idea is putting leds inside the projectors for some accent lighting. I was wondering if there are any LEDs that can take the heat from the xenon bulb also I was wanting to use some of the mini flexible led strips from oznium.com
I have heard that leds cannot stant much heat and the projectors get a bit hot. I really want to incorporate some of the RGB leds and a led controller to change the color of the leds. If you guys have any ideas on some heavy duty leds that can stand high heat. Also i need some ideas on how i might mount the highbeam projector.
Sorry for the huge message guys just thought I would give you guys an update. I will post some pics of the tsx projectors tomorrow when I get the left side finish. Take care people. [/quote]

Hey, just got all my items in too ( 08 HL , TSX ) and after reading bmw's DIY and your run through is there anything else I should look for ?
I noted the spacers comment and figured the alignment would be the difficult part. Any measurements you could throw my way as far as drilling for the holes ?
Also is looks because your mounting the TSX on the stock plate would you be able to adjust the vertical adjustment by using the stock adjuster ? (8mm screw in the back)
Thanks.

5hift_gear MEASURE TWICE CUT ONCE. I will say that. My stoned ___ didn't and missed my cut by like 1/32" and the cutoff was slightly crooked. With a little man handling I got it decently straight. I have to go back in on the right side and do the washer mod. I am not getting a colorful cutoff at all. So Tonight I will play with that some. Pictures coming later tonight, hopefully if the girl does not get me sidetracked. Hope that helps some and good luck to you.

Don't be surprised if I post alot of one word answers and questions because of the stupid 50 post rule for selling stuff ( even though I've been a member since 05 .. )
Love the irony that I used the search option instead of posting a million questions and now I pay for it by making useless one word posts.
Guys I have a question that I need answered and am hoping you guys might have that answer. I am planning to install LED's inside my projectors. I know that the LED will not work at a temp over 200F. Do you guys think that inside of the projector get hotter than 200F? I left them on for about an hour today and felt then and they were not that hot to my touch. So if anyone has an idea about how hot the Xenon bulbs make the ambient air inside the projector please let me know before I start hacking these things apart again. Thanks guys for you help. I will take some pics tomorrow night. I finally got the projectors level. When I get home I will post them. Take care guys.
You guys and myself I am sure have been waiting a long time to see the following... I just got them all four installed cutoff pics coming when I get them better aimed. The FX35 Cutoff is level the TSX cutoff is set low because it is slightly uneven. The TSX projectors are not centered in the highbeam slot. Room in there is tight. Install pics coming later I have to get everything cleaned of smudges and put back together before i have to go to school. Hope you enjoy this Midnight snack.
