Default 50 W HID's in '08 projectors

Has any one seen/have this setup. I have an '08 tC and this is the setup I would like to have: 5000k 50-55 W Very high output race/off-raod HID's in the low beams. Any info on this type of setup would be cool. Thanks.

there are a bunch people on here that have HIDs in 08s here if you search for them im sure they'd come up. but as for 50w ones for high output? uhm.. standard HID is fairly bright already, dont see a need for very high output ones.. but thats just me

Hmm...I always thought HIDs ran cooler than halogen bulbs.

They do. Standard HID is 35w. OEM halogen is 55w. The HIDs he is talking about are still cooler than OEM.

I know this, but does the OP know?

I thought when he says "very high output" he's talking about the light emission (lumens), not the temperature.

I was talking about the amount of lumens. Acording to therpmstore.com the amount of lumens in the setup I would like is about 4900 in the 55W vs. 3300 in the 35W using a 5000K color temp. bulb.

BTW I did search for this info in this site but didn't find much on "this" particular topic. That's why I asked the original question.

I want a 50W ballast because I want a greater amount of lumens. The 50W setup is brighter than the 35W setup. I found a a 50-55W kit at therpmstore.com. They are Apexcone brand. I haven't bought them yet because I wanted to do a little more research. What do you guys think of the Apexcone Brand?

im confused. HIDs are gas, and the gas burning at different temps causes the color differences. wouldn't that mean the "high output" HIDs would be a different gas?

can someone answer the above question? i already got 50W HIDs off ebay but heard that during initial turn-on it pulls about 120W which can burn or melt the harness.... anyone have problems?

if you use a relay harness it shouldnt be a problem. the relay harness uses the stock plug as a remote to turn off an on while its main source of power is directly attached to the battery. its alot safer that way since you arent pulling that much power through the stock wiring system, and it also prevents overall wear and tear in the HID system, or at least to my best understanding.

just buy a plug and play kit, no relays no nothing plugs right into the oem harness and your done, and 35w is the normal HIDs theres no point to go over that they are bright enough, unless you want everyperson you drive behind to hate you
