6000k or 8000k?
giant wad of mega glare blue light ricein down the road, yeah, it attracts attention... personaly annoys the crap out of me.. but thats me gettin old.. i went to the blue headlight phase in highschool too.. it was the norm... then i grew up... and am hooked on pure daylight! my house looks like a hospital w/ pure compact florecents everywhere.. lol.. god im old
I have 6k and they are great. I don't see too much blue in them, but definitely a little.
You SHOULD definitely see the blue in 8k. I've read on some SL forums that people did get pulled over for them. I personally don't know of anyone who did though.
Anything over 8k should be approached with caution in my oppinion. Yeah it looks great, but your practically asking to get pulled over.

For example, today. i was going 2 college and i get inside the parking lot, and see one of my friends (he drives a tsx) stoped by a cop, i park next to him and asked him what happened, he got a ticket for his HIDs (8k), CAI, Exhaust, tints, and tinted taillights.
I had 10000k in my last car for over a year and never got pulled over.. Also had 15% tint all around and 5% in the back and I was never pulled over..
Over here in CT, atleast where I live.. haven't heard anyone getting pulled over for headlights..
I wish I could see 6000k and 8000k head-on from a far distance..

Don't get the 8,000k
most hid kit resellers out there show output pictures without knowing that the more the exposure, the more intense light will be thus making the impression the kits are superb.
Never go Past 6,000k or else u'll lose output severely.

You're not saying anything new, most people get the color they like, not just the intense white 6000K kit. Even the "severley dim" 8000K lights are still 5 times brighter than any halogen bulb.
i would get 8k personally, coz they look sick in person a friend of mine has them in his neon with projectors and another friend with his GTI and projectors. but where i'm gonna get the VRD projectors i have to get the VRD HIDs an they only come in 6k due to projector size and only VRD bulbs fit apparently so make sure your gettin the right sized bulb lol. gl an show pics!

But you're at a misconception. Blue is percieved better by your eyes than yellow. That's the reason behind the whole everyone wants blue HID's.
hid's don't matter much. high quality or low quality ballast will produce the same 35w which will power up the bulb. However, sadly enough, aftermarket bulbs never give you the facts of their bulbs but rather speculate trying to copy Philips, Osram and GE bulbs spec.
Why do you think looking head on, 8,000K will look brighter than your typical 4,100K setup? Your eyes love blue.
And in raining condition, water will suck up blue and white. That's the reason behind them sucking because it'd be like driving with no lights at all.
If you want the philips, osram and GE datasheet, PM me and I will give you true facts.
I can appreciaite a good debate, but i have had both halogens (Silverstars) and now these 8000Ks, and the difference is night and day in ALL conditions, wet or dry. I have seen first hand on my own car, and honestly you aren't gonna change my mind with datasheets.
now this is a night and day difference:
8,000K hid kit and yellow fogs:

85122+ Philips bulbs and s2k's:

Halogens get 1200 lumens and 8,000K are over-colorshifted bulbs with the rating of 1500-1800 but then again u get more lumens. However, blue washes away more rapidly than yellow. If you haven't noticed, that's why lexus uses yellow fogs.
