soi did the 9005 retro fit and read up on it but its been awhile since anyone has talked about it. im curius if anything new has come up if there are any problems i should look for since its quite a higher wattage bulb like fryed wireing harness exe. any info guys would help thanks!

 

I've had mine in for almost a year, no problemo.

 

good to hear what style of bulb are you useing i have one in right now its just a standard incase i dident like it i was only out a few bucks

 

9005 sylvania silverstars

 

I did this mod a while ago. I was flashed the other night by an oncoming car. But it was on a street without any ambient lighting (street lights).

 

i did it a couple of months ago, i havent been flashed and everything is fine

 

I have 9005 silverstar ultras in the lows and 9005 silverstars in the highs. The lows are 65W and the highs are 60W. The wiring can handle that, so i'd recommend it. Although I wouldn't recommend the ultras - can hardly tell the difference between those and the silverstars, yet they are much more expensive.

 

ya i had untras in th e 9006 size origionally and they just sucked for th emoney they ar the same bulb seemed dimmer and its suppost to last longer? hhhmmm....

 

I've been doing this for years on all my cars with elipsoid headlights as have many people. The harness are all built the same. It will be fine.

 

Mine lasted about 6 months... I figure it was just time for the bulbs to go out but Im not sure. Cause they both went out in the same week. It was cold out, I flicked the lights on and after like a second one blows out. Then a few days later, the other one blows out. But I really liked the brightness! I might do it again but maybe with some XTravision bulbs.

I know you did the HID thing but , what made the 9005 mod so bad for you ? Just wondering

 

Well, I like fitting the 9005 in the 9006 socket, but I'm just the kind of person who's not always satisfied.

If I don't have the money for the HIDs, I would really stick with the converted 9005s.

 

I understand . I just want to get it right . I cannot see a drop in HID kit as being even close to good with our housing . Hotspots and glare . I need to spend loads of money on a retro HID or do a 9005 retro cheap or stay with my Silverstars as is . I like them . Always looking to get brighter though
