I'm curious if Toyota is replacing the handles/garnishes with a sturdier redesigned unit or use the same old model. My garnish has some cracks, but it is still functional. I'm afraid my dealer won't honor the warranty in it's current state, so I'd have to break it off. I'd be more motivated to take my car in if I know the replacement is a new design.

i think you are way passed your extended warranty for that particular part, but doesn't hurt to come in and ask.

I went in a month ago to get mine replaced after i got recall in the mail, my warranty on the garnish was about to expire. seems sturdy, though the rubber that covers that opens the latch door handle is failing apart, wasn't doing that before though.... =\

 

I waited too long also. Would not honor warranty. Cost is on me now. Handles never were any good.
