the guy obviously just can't take constructive criticism. it's almost like if someone else thinks his grill looks homemade he wonders if he should have bought it. classic case of an inferiority complex and questioning his own ability to decide what looks good on his car. so, he lashes out. i wasn't flaming him. i just said his grill looks homemade, imo. i wasn't being disrespectful. so, there is no "contest".

bye the way, the OC on tv is nothing like the real OC.

I dunno how someone would even put down the name Grillcraft, as I have always thought them to be the number one Manufacturers of aftermarket grills anyways...enjoy your stock Scion Grill then surfboy.
if you are going to take so much time, trouble and expense (edited: omitted mention of using zip ties in response to next post) to make yours look so similar.

If the RS didn't exist and someone offered that grill (that attaches the way it does) for the same price as the GrillCraft, which one would be in your car? Try to keep a straight face when you answer...

Can't we all just get along...

To be honest, if the Grillcraft grill had an outter trim (the chrome part) I'd get that instead. That's the only thing holding me back from getting it. It doesn't look "complete" to me. Hopefully Grillcraft will make one with a trim around it.

The trim piece doesn't have to be chrome. Kind of like the way the RS1 grille has the trim and the grille in one piece. I don't know if you understand what I'm saying, but yeah...

np....i'd just like to see it with a black 1/2" or so visible piping around the perimeter of the grille shape so it looks like some time and thought went into fabricating it as a sturdy, stand alone sport grille. other than that, i like a sport grille appearance.

although these are kamei, and more for euro cars, check out these grilles to see what i mean. navigate grilles, particularly vauxhall.
http://www.kamei.co.uk/products/index.html

they just look more "done" and still have a sport grille appearance (like the RS).

someone will do this for the tC and i'll get one. again, no disrespect to yours but i want a different look, a clean european sport grille look.

here is what i mean. this shot....

can you imagine a company who makes an aftermarket grille for audi or bmw saying leave the "oem" grille underneath for support?

We did do the install with no upper stock grille. There are finalized pictures in our installation post. Any more questions, feel free to ask.

i don't have any questions. i know it can be installed without the stock behind it....that wasn't my point. i read the posts. i see that instead of a blacked out scion grille behind it, everything else is behind it (unless i paint or put foam or do whatever).

my point remains that, imo, this grille looks homemade. no f'in big deal. please, can i just not like this grille without people trying to convince me it looks good? i know your installation was great; i know the company has a good reputation;i know people like it....for crying out loud i don't. nice install, nice scion, great company, but not my taste.

i would do something else.... that's all.

lol your funny man.

I was like you and thought it looked cheap. I didn't like it at first but I just recieved my lower grill friday... upper is coming on tuesday...

I held it up to some gutter guard that I have spare for my house and it is no way near looking like it. The grillcraft has a bigger diamond pattern and it looks to have been black coated pretty thick and done well has the right OEM curve to it and the border is thick. The entire thing is very sturdy and tough looking more so then our cheap plastic grills we have now... The grillcraft doesn't look as if it will bend to easily, not wimpy at all.

I can't wait to put it on. It has very impressive fit and finish.

I was like you until i just said **** it and ordered it. Now I am excited for the change.

BTW... HEY NAMMOTORSPORTS DOODS... IS THE SCREWS YOU INCLUDE RUST PROOF OR DO I HAVE TO GO BUY SOME STAINLESS ONES? TIA

actually... I looked at the rs1.0 grill and was not too impressed by them. The pattern seem a bit 'thick' and it has some kind of wierd tapered curve all around the grill.

The grillcraft looks pretty sporty with a clean curve and makes of a more blended pattern that is not too small and not too big... seems like bugs would be stopped by the grillcraft ones then the rs ones... just my .02 to each their own... They are both hot!

i think they are SS screws. but im going to be buying black nailpolish to paint the tops of the screws, cause if you look close, you can see the screws heads (it will also ensure they dont rust)

I just installed my upper grille, i will be doing the bottom one on sunday i hope.

I installed my grillcraft 4 piece grill! First we tried using the provided directions that say to use the stock grill. That sucked cause it's alot harder to get everything lined up(the holes). We had to give up on that cause it was getting dark and we had no light. So today we try using the directions on the previous page of this thread. All I can say is it is alot easier to intall this way. ALOT! And looks ten times better without the stock grill behind it! I will post a few pictures as soon as I was my car!

BTW in most of the pictures the grille does look homemade but in real life it's a quality product! I'll try to take some pictures that do this grill justice!

Thanks North American Motorsports!
